Food looks good. Satay is good. Sauce is great. Fish and chips are great. Chicken chop are well done and flavourful. Place is cosy and family friendly.

Meeting my wife a bit later than she arrived, the "waiter" jumps on me faster than a cheetah hunting for her cubs requesting that I check in (not the classiest method but fine), however never once came back to ask if I wanted anything to drink or eat while standing right behind me the whole time since the restaurant was not busy. Kept my mask on, no water, no anything. Hate doing this but unacceptable service.

The ambience was fine, service is just okay since i waited a little bit longer than expected for my coffee and waffle and lastly the food was not that good, the waffle is burnt making it too hard to eat and the coffee has no crafting. The food menu on the screen has crafting. On the whole, quite disappointing.

Hanging out in this cafe with a friend. We ordered nasi goreng kampong and KL Hokkien mee as our main course and ordered 10 sticks lok lok. Food is average with reasonable price. Beer also cheaper compared to other bars or cafes. Arrived around 3pm on Tuesday, it was a quiet weekday. We enjoyed chilling in the cafe chit chatting. Good service and nice environment. Food is normal but worth anf fulfilling. Good place for hang out. Total bill is $52.43 for 2 pax.

The hokkien mee $8 is quite delicious. Would recommend. Only comment is the sotong not fresh. But I still give it 5 stars.

Servers here are very quick to clear plates and welcoming people in. However food preparation is slow. Ordered 3 dishes and 2 mains took more than half an hour to arrive, rosti took at least 45 mins when we came in around 9pm,not during peak hour. Food portion is small and looks different from menu images esp the lok lok, $6 dollars for 6 sticks, ingredients used for the mains. Seafood don't feel very fresh, rosti have a slight bitter taste to it. Overall the food portion and taste aren't good enough to justify the wait.

Its our first time trying out the food in The Old Straits Cafe. We ordered 2 fish and chips, 1 satay combo and 1 chicken chop etc. When the food were been served, it looks good. After eating, we are even more amazed by the taste of the food. The fish and chips are so crispy and juicy and surprising the crispyness of the fish can even last for more than 2 hours. This is something which I don't find in other restaurant serving fish and chips especially the one in Hangar 66 which is supposed to be popoular for the fish and chips. The crispyness of the fish and chips in Hangar 66 cannot even maintained the same standard for half an hour. But for The Old Straits cafe is a different story. Their fish and chips are super super excellent. Crispy and juicy, with a very good sharing portion. The satay sauce it serve is so super delicious and the satay is flavourful and juicy and tender. Just different from the other bistro restaurant or cafe that serve the same dish. Even the chicken chop is so well marinated and just the first bite you can taste the well marinated chicken meat that is so full of tenderness. And the french fries on the main courses serve is also very crispy. Most importantly, the prices for the main courses are so reasonable. Overall rating, excellent food, family cosy ambience, nice and friendly staff, very reasonable price. Thumbs up for the Old Straits Cafe.👍👍👍👍👍👍 We will certainly recomend this cafe to friends and go to the Old Straits Cafe again.

Came here to celebrate friend's birthday. The main reason is that the beer is cheap here: 1 tower for $28, 2 for $50 and 3 for $88. Basically they will still calculate the best promo price in the final bill as we order more towers, so no stress to order more and afraid we cannot finish. The food are reasonably priced, taste quite good and portion is large too.
