Usually restaurants that offer ‘a bit of everything’ are not usually as good as ones that specialise in a specific style. Admittedly I didn’t try a lot of things but the one thing I did try was very decent and fairly priced. I tried the lamb murtabak as it was highlighted as a specialty dish. It was quite large, for a lunch it was enough to fill you up. The lamb was not as soft as I would have liked, but it was plentiful. The egg in the dough was also light and fluffy so it was a nice combination. The curry gravy with it was rich and tasty and helped moisten every mouthful. The teh tarik with the meal was also nice and sweet and the perfect accompaniment. Next time I might try a few more dishes to compare, but for what it was, this was good value for a little over ten bucks.

Get your putu piring fix here. The famous Haig Road Putu Piring $2.50 for 5 pcs. If you are feeling peckish in wee hours fret not, Al Wadee opens 24 hours. From Asian to Western cuisine, all are under one roof. Price is reasonable and portion is big too. For tea time, they do sell fried snacks like fried banana balls & fritters, prawn wadeh, keria, getas2 - sugar coated etc. $2 for 3 pcs. Tahu goreng is a must try here. Beancurd & sauce blends well gives you that ‘kick’. You may ask for extra spicy.

Great food.
Much like other open restaurants that are a fixture in Singapore, Alwadi offers a smorgasbord of options that are sure to please.
Very reasonable prices, lively staff and a great place to catch a great meal.
Gluten Free options are available, just ask the counter staff and use your best judgement.

It's so easy to find the location. The ALWANI sign can be found at the corner of the shop

Don't know about all the other stalls but you need to eat the Putu Piring!!! Best to have it there freshly made on the spot. That way the gula melaka inside is still melty and gooey almost like caramel inside.
Putu Piring is something like tutu kueh only better. Theres no selection of fillings, just the standard gula melaka accompanied with coconut shavings.

Really awesome prata and fish curry. The prata isn't oily and the fish curry is soooo flavourful. I would say it's severely underrated.
