After seeing the raving reviews about the food at Mt Alvernia Hospital and the fact that I was there for my medical review, I decided to give the food there a try to quell my curiosity.
I was ushered to my seat and given an iPad to order food. There were quite a number of choices to choose from. Ev
If you’re surprised by how a small eatery in a hospital has such high ratings on Google, please be assured that your eyes are not fooling you.
Cafe 820 may seem very unassuming in terms of its appearance, and lighting is always on the dim side, but the food that they serve genuinely packs a punch.
Takeaway hokkien mee. When I opened the container the smell was wonderful.
Very flavourful and good texture of noodle. Wetness was just right
This small corner cafe is really a life saver. I had 2 meals here while my son is having an eye (day) surgery done at mt alvernia. A place to grab a decent quick meal, price is reasonable too.
Decent food ambiance and service. Most importantly I had a vegetarian option! The vegetarian bee Hoon was packed with gluten char Siew and stewed meat. wouldn’t have been my choice but it was very well presented and there was decent portion of vegetables, dates, mushroom and even geiji! All for $5.2
Food is so so, but if you compare with those cafes in hospitals, this stands out. Portion is huge too. The staff is friendly and polite. Without them, you will see 1 or 2 star lesser.
Food is actually not bad for a hospital, Mee Rebus gravy is thick and tasty
I had the new rebus yesterday. It was so-so. I ordered takeaway and couldn't tell who prepared this dish but it tasted like mee rebus made by a non-Malay chef. I love mee rebus in general and find that unless it's made by a Malay chef/cook, it tends to lack a little something.
I tried the char kway
