Recently I went for a dinner with friends at Hao Lai Wu Steamboat & BBQ located in Smith Street Chinatown, the dining experience has been great!!! Convenient location, very accessible with public transport. The service staff were very friendly and helpful, quite attentive to our request. They have a wide selection under their buffet menu, with more than 80 types of ingredients to choose from. All the ingredients are very fresh!!! Here are some of the ones highly recommended: Pork Collar, Special shrimp with chicken paste balls, Fresh Prawns, Dong Bei Dumplings, Spicy Pork Ribs, Fresh Sliced Fish, USA Sliced Beef, You Mai Chye. The buffet price is very reasonable, each pax is less than $40 after all the service charge and GST. Highly recommended if you are looking for a nice place for steamboat buffet.

Pretty decent bbq with a small hotpot as well. The flavor of the food is nice, as of soup base. It was ok, nothing fancy nor super impressive. Was just ok… overall it’s a place good for gathering and chatting over food, it’s just something really easy. Service is attentive too. Looking for a place to chill may consider this place if you are In the area.

Many options for the buffet. We went for Friday dinner around 8, relatively little people. Most of them came late, hence I think it’s a popular spot for supper. I think they have a lack of staff hence service was not very attentive. Spent about $70+ for 2 pax. Do take note that drinks, soup base, ice cream are not included in buffet.

Honestly the food options and plating were fantastic! Super love the bbq marinated meat, the soup base was just ok.... the tomato soup we had was so diluted and artificial it feels like they sliced 2 tomatoes and pour some ketchup and water to turn it into a soup base lmao!! So to pay additional $7/$5 bucks for the soup base was really not worth it AT ALL. WHAT SUCKED WAS THE SERVICE.... especially the lady who told us to "wait" for 3 times when all we wanted was to refill our soup.... However the rest of the staff was kinda nice but they kept missing out our order?? Like we ordered eg 10 items and only got 6 and when we asked for the rest they kinda went missing again mcm playing hide and seek but ok other than that it was really worth it! We spend about $160 for 4 pax on a weekday dinner including the drinks we ordered so I'll definitely go back again (-;

Prices are decent and food is good. We had personal hotpot set and couple of grilled items. The pork bone broth base is a good choice. The prawns are very fresh and chicken wings grilled in a stick are very flavorful. Tried their rolling ice-cream $5, just average, artificial strawberry flavoring. The waiter served us forgot to bring drink to us, we had our drink at the last minute of our mealtime.
