Had wondered how this stall's mee pok tasted having seen a snaking queue daily. It would be a 15 to 20 mins queue usually. Came early to try it at 640am and there were about 4 or 5 people in the queue.
Having seen the size of the fish balls, I decided to add "ingredients", at $5 per bowl. As you can see, there's a good number of fishballs, though small and odd shaped. The fish balls were generally of good quality, springy, but not necessarily tasty. The noodles were Al dente, and tossed in oil and chilli, also added ketchup to my preference. The noodle had an alkaline taste though.
Overall, would order it if not much of a queue, but if there's a queue, I would not.
This is one of the most popular stalls in this hawker centre. There is a couple more fishball noodle stalls which have similar names, so do not get it mixed up. It is right next to a Hong Kong Bakery stall. Long queues are expected on opening days. The queue starts early in the morning and can get quite long during the weekends. Close on Monday. Opens about 5am and sold out around 9am plus. The noodles texture and sauce are just perfect. The fishballs are the smaller ones which is just alright for me.
This stall always has a long queue. My first time trying so I got the $3 bowl which was quite little (but just nice as a breakfast for me.) The noodle is nicely cooked. The sauce is simple, traditional and quite oily. I’m not a fan of the usual fishballs so I liked their homemade ones which are springy and not salty.
Expect long queue across, queue and hope the person in front does not order 10packs! Took me about 20mins to clear the queue. Fishballs are exceptional good though smaller than average size, can taste fresh fish when bitting fish ball. Soup is tasty and sauce for noodles contains fried lard and is yummy. No wonder people are queuing, queue remained as long on duration when I was there. Definitely will be back, worth the queue and value for portion.
Fishballs are fresh and tender. Noodles are well cooked, and the combination of the chilli sauce and vinegar is just nice. Due to the short operating hours, you have to be early to prevent disappointment. Worth a try.
Love or hate kind of noodles..
handmade fishballs
Normally close before 9:15am.
Rest on Monday
Hand made fishball noodles that are a bit tad greasy. However, it's different from the mass market versions that you would find in food courts.
