Anthony's got it spot on if you are looking for a place with a nice quiet ambience, top quality passion-infused classic cocktails, and oden. Grab a bar counter seat if you can, its always a joy to watch him making the drinks. Do call to check if there are seats beforehand (especially if you're going on a Friday or Saturday evening) - it's an 18 seater bar with no standing room.

Pretty neat place to chill out at the end of day; for the soul, the mind and the body – just like its name Shin Gi Tai. Not really an upscale location although it is already in the city zone. However, the ambience is just right; simple peace and quiet. A great wine, cocktail and beer list accompanied by an ample food selection you can pick to go with it. Did I mention Anthony Zhong, the head bartender? He is very personable and a great host.
The only word to describe this place is: impeccable.
Probably the best place for cocktails in Singapore.

After a late dinner appointment the night was still young for me so I decided to discover the nightlife nearby my hotel; and I founded this hidden gem!
The bar is named Shin Gi Tai which is a term of karate to define a true sensei who has a harmony of "Shin - The Preacher: mind, heart and good spirit", "Gi - The Technician: skill, knowledge and experience" and "Tai - The Coach: body and physical effort". Shin Gi Tai locates in a small alley at 51 Waterloo street; if you just randomly pass by you may not find it due to no signboard at the main street. The concept of the bar is really close to the ones in Ginza area: small and cozy bar.
This place has just been opened for 4 weeks by Anthony Zhong - a guy who has been 19 years in F&B industry and 7 years as a bartender. Anthony has a huge passion in bartending; if you have a chance to visit Shin Gi Tai you can see him walking around to interact with customers and explain about the cocktails they have. Look at him doing the showmanship is really a good way to relax and appreciate the art of bartending.

Anthony's a gem on the local bar scene. Drinks always hit the right note. No gimmicks. Just perfectly balanced, tasty cocktails made with heart. Great guy to chat with too. Forget the over hyped places and come here instead!
