Review Charcoal Thai - Singapore

I can't say that its the most authentic mookata around, the a la carte menu is very much localised. But I'm found satisfaction in their raw prawn salad. Hopefully, they can bring on more variants of thai salads.

I came here with some friends for the mookata AYCE. The selection of meats were not that great and there were no beef options for that menu (without paying extra). We ordered a bunch of things and found the quality of food to be subpar (see photos). If I remember correctly it was about 20+ per person for dinner. I honestly would rather pay a little more for better quality food. We left feeling pretty dissatisfied. The upside to this place was that service was good and fast.

This place seems to look high end and authentic Thai from the outside but quality of the mookata is not up to par and feels like normal BBQ. The chili sauce provided is typical fast food chilli sauce. Thai chili sauce lovers will be disappointed. Without smoke suction hood like korean BBQ, people can actually smell your BBQ'ed shirt from a distance. The only real positive is that the pricing is still reasonable, considering that this is a shopping mall location.

Went to this outlet with a large group of friends on a weekday afternoon. Took advantage of the buffet lunch promo at about $13/pax. Food was served fairly quickly and we got down to cooking our food. The tom yum soup base tasted great and meats were fresh and well marinated. Took abit of time to cook due to the small cooking surface which was why our lunch took nearly 2 hrs! Left the place satisfied but smelling of the smoke from cooking. Was a value for money meal and would consider visiting the place again during other timings to order the more premium food items which were not included in the buffet items.

Received terrible service. There were only a few people in the restaurant and only 2 service staff. We got 2 soups for the different mookata sets, chicken and tomyum. The staff mixed up the broth, refilling the tomyum with chicken and chicken with tomyum. The whole place was really run down and the food was mediocre. Would not go back ! The seats were all broken and when we asked to change seats the staff just replied that all the seats are broken no matter where we change to and walked away.

My first and last visit here @ Charcoal Thai (Nex Outlet). We had the all you can eat buffet lunch and the entire experience was subpar. The meats were horrible, lack of flavour and it just tastes weird. The meat were also obviously unfresh and frozen, and they cant even make the effort to properly thaw the meat, causing lumps and a huge mess. Cooked food like the chicken wing, mee goreng and fried rice was barely decent, still edible. The worst were the prawns and the soup base (chicken). First and foremost, the soup base just tastes weird, the after taste was disgusting and it doesnt even taste like a regular chicken stock base. Next, the prawns were not fresh at all. Because of this, when I left the prawns into the soup to cook, it entirely ruined the soup. The soup turns nearly unedible. It was really disgusting. They claimed they were the best thai mookata restuarant in Singapore. NOPE. Thats a straight up lie. I had far better mookata experiences, an example is 888 mookata @ Kovan. The only saving grace were the staff friendly-ness and the free flow drinks option @ $3.50. Horrible. Please save your money, time and tummy for a better place.

Th chicken I was served tonight was off. Like sour. Because - in the interest of giving them the benefit of doubt. However, what surprised me most is that for the membership program, you cannot top up the balance between the amount you have in your card with cash. Means that you have to keep topping up more and more to cover your bill. Doesn't seem like a very honest way to keep you coming back. Anyway, the food is not the freshest, they are really shorthanded, and be prepared to wait even if you press the call button.

Got Fave vouchers for this meal... Generous portion of everything for 2 persons. Service was a little slow due to fact that place was fully seated. Staff were courteous. The place is neat and spacious. Good place for small family or group gathering.
