Review The Big Cheese - Singapore

Almost A Hidden Gem With Good Mac And Cheese That Could Use More Macaroni And Toppings. I loved their mac and cheese but at $8 I expected at least a good serving of toppings but instead got 3 pieces of tiny mussels and dried spinach that looked more like a garnish than an actual topping. I liked the subtleness of the truffle oil which complemented the piping hot mac and cheese perfectly. The restaurant is small with only a few seats. Service is ok. Will I try this again? Hell yes.. as there’s no other options around or anywhere else in general. I’s probably order 2 regular mac and cheese to fill my tummy. One serving will definitely leave you wanting more. Add more toppings and you’ll end up having to pay the same price as the mac and cheese at a top steakhouse lol! Oh.. I like their packaging that looks like chinese takeout ;)

Quite good Mac and cheese. Creamy and nice sauce and with good flavour. Ordered the $10 Big Cheese. Portion was all right but felt that the pulled beef they gave was little for that price. I think the customised one would be a better bang for your buck. Overall, decent experience.

good place and price is not too pricey, however if you're in a rush it might take a while to cook because they do it on the spot. I love the food though, very amazing mac and cheese frpm here

Ordered the make-a-mac and it was super good! Feels very homey and rich! The place is a little small so be prepared to take away :-) overall definitely gonna come back here again

The regular Big Cheese was not bad though the beef was not so much pulled beef but stewed beef morsels. It took awhile for the dish to be prepared. Not fast food or ready to go though it may look like it from the deli counter.

Staff was friendly and waited for me to eyeball the entire menu before deciding on having the specialty, Big Cheese ($8.00). Big cheese comes with pulled beef, Mac & cheese, Gruyère and truffle oil. You can add on other toppings if you wish to. This messy dish was exactly what I needed for a lazy Saturday afternoon. The seasoning was just right! I would choose this over Marmalade Pantry anytime 🤭 The shop is rather small, so do not expect alot of available seats. There are only about 5-6 seats at the moment. The cute boxes make for great take aways anyway!

Litlle takeaway American style pasta and cheese place. I ordered the big cheese. It took about 5mins to make the meal. I've been hear a few times and always enjoyed it. It is very much not for those on a diet but what you get is a pasta cheesy dish that is very moreish. You can customise the dish to suit you with add ons like proteins like meat and eggs. The serving size is also quite large.

Created my own mac which was quite tasty overall but it was a tad oily and yet, there was not the slightest hint of the truffle oil I ordered. Regular portion that I had was smallish (definitely not enough for a meal, only a snack) and toppings were not particularly generous. As such, I'd suggest the large portion which is probably better value for money. Best part of the experience was the staff who were friendly and took time to explain their offerings, even giving gentle suggestions at points where I was undecided. When I left, they took the trouble to thank me and say goodbye, addressing my name in the process. A nice gesture.

Nestled in the arty farty area of town is the BIG CHEESE. Gone are the days I had to make my own from instant prepacked ones. I particularly love the texture of the cheese in the serving together with the amount of toppings offered. Totally spoiled for choice. A perfect lunch stop under $10. Opps did I say there's always a queue? Trust me, it's worth the wait!

Was impressed by the genius concept of DIY Mac and Cheese and blown away by the choices of gourmet cheese offered at such an economic price around town. Sealed the deal with such friendly service and totally loved the cosy environment. Will definitely frequent this again when I'm around the area. Keep up the great work guys!

If u are a fan of Mac & Cheese then you should give it a try. I ordered The Big Cheese from the menu... Served piping hit in a box, Cheese string that sticks to my lips makes it fun and enjoyable. Not advisable to take away as a layer of oil would start to surface and separate from the Mac. A nice afternoon teabreak snack for me. Friendly staff. Would like to try other items on the menu.

The only good thing about The Big Cheese is the price. Probably targeted at students? Not worth it otherwise -- the cheese isn't thick enough and the pasta was overcooked. I'm not sure how this place even got a mention in a popular food blog.

The pasta isn't cooked enough, and the ingredients aren't mixed properly either. Overall still love this diy mac & cheese.

It's cheesier than your typical romance chic flick that comes rolling around valentine's season.

Delicious, have tried it before, will try it again! Definitely recommended.

Portion needs to be improved on, especially for the price they are charging. Tastes fine, but don't expect anything fantastic. Definitely not worth the money / making a trip there though...

Disapointment of the portion so little for the price paid.

Well i guess when its come to food, its really one man meat is another man poison. Tried it yesterday n i have to say wasn't impressed with it. So-so imo. However, their potato skins were awesome. I guess it their saving grace. But again i have to stress that its one man's meat is another man's poison.
