Yuan Yuan Claypot Rice
源源沙煲飯
Yuan Yuan Claypot Rice opens only 4 days a week, so one has to plan ahead before making the journey like many other to ABC Brickworks to eat their claypot rice here. If you have the number to the stall, you may even call ahead (at least 30 mins prior) to let them know you are coming and will be given a number. On arrival, let the stall people know your number and they will soon serve up your Claypot Rice for you as your claypot would have already been cooking before your arrival.
Unlike other Claypot Rice stalls in Singapore, the Claypot Rice here is well seasoned, well cooked and with succulent ingredients. There is no need to add thick soy sauce and oil in to suit the claypot rice to taste as the stall has already done it for you.
Having served much better and more deserving Claypot Rice than the 2 Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore 2021 awardees at other Hawker Centres, it is a wonder how this stall was not a recipient of the Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore 2021 Award.
General Verdict: Fragrant and delicious Claypot Rice that is consistently yummy as it should be with the right amount of burnt rice at the bottom
Opening Hours: Daily 3:30pm to 10pm (Closed on Saturdays and Wednesdays) (Closes early if sold out)

Verdict: Very Good, Must Order

The claypot rice was cooked using charcoal so it had a wonderful smokey fragance and taste. The chicken were well marinated. There were lup cheong and salted fish too. A portion for two costs $15, which is reasonably priced. Staff were polite and hygenic and accepted e-payment.
Enjoyed the claypot rice and watercress pork ribs soup. The rice, chicken, chinese sausage, and salted fish were tasty and the chicken pieces were meaty enough. The soup had good flavour and the pork ribs were meaty.
Definitely one of the top claypot rice stalls in Singapore. Portions are generous, and the quality of individual ingredients are outstanding - yet combining to bring it to the next level. My recommendation will be to order one of the soup options to go with the claypot rice. I had the water-cress soup to counteract the 'heatiness' of the claypot rice, and I'm left nodding while drinking the tasty soup. The soup holds its own - and it's not a sidekick to the claypot rice.
Be prepared to wait 30min for your order, and you can be assured it is worth the wait.
Just tried the new outlet at Bukit Batok. Didn’t have to wait too long as the shop is still relatively new in the neighborhood. But wow, the wok hei taste of the rice blew me away. Best claypot rice in the neighborhood for me now.
Apr 2019. Hadn't had claypot rice in ages. A highly maligned stall reading from past posts. I begged to differ.
We ordered a small portion enough for 2 but turned out we still had spare to share.
It came sizzling and the aroma filled the table when lid was lifted.
Kept turning and tossing the rice with the ladle was part of the fun. On the nose, dark sauce, burning and salted fish smell were part of the package.
And geez they were generous with salted fish.
The chicken was good, started from raw, it still had every bit of freshness and tenderness on the tongue.
Service wise, although the vendors were grumpy, all our needs were answered with no questions asked. This was heartland, come on.
I would usually give an above average of 3 stars. Because of injustice in the past posts, i raised it to 4.
The rice and chicken is nicely cooked. The rice texture is finer than the one at Alexandra Food Court (Tai Liok). Portion is considered small and less Chinese sausage. But overall, better than Tai Liok.
