From its name, this restaurant is a Japanese restaurant, but in addition to Japanese food, it also provides a western menu. The quality of the price appeal is average.

The shabushabu is the worst I ever had.
The mala soup base is very weird, taste like herbal soup. Told the staff, and he just ignored. The place is also very unhygienic with ants in the soft drinks machines. Again, the staff just ignored the issue. The beef is pathetic, very thin slice with large propotion of fat. The soya sauce can also go wrong.. with some strange smell. I wonder how can this restaurant survive... Please dont be fooled by the ad, their food looks nothing like the pictures.

There are 3 menus in this restaurant. 1. Danro’s menu, for Japanese hotpot - the menu also had typical Japanese food such as unagi etc, 2. A Japanese western menu (with a separate dessert menu),. 3. Chinese food menu comprising fried rice, steamed dumplings (xiaolongbao), steamed and pan-fried gyoza/jiaozi and some noodles.
The large space wasn't even half-filled when we got there at 1:30pm on a Tuesday. Granted, it was after lunch hour on a weekday, and the situation was similar at some other restaurants close by, but there was a long queue at Ma Maison on the same level.
The food was just okay. The fried rice was decent. Not the type with the "fire taste" or wok-hei, more like the Din Tai Fung style. It wasn't a particularly large serving though we didn't mind because we'd ordered many different things to share.
The xiaolongbao was very ordinary, and slightly on the salty side. The pan-fried gyoza was quite tasty in comparison. It's not the best I've had, just alright. There were 3 pieces of a different looking gyoza (the usual kind) which came as part of the lunch set (a main - pick from a few fried rice options or noodles, the 3-pc gyoza and a cup of Chinese tea).
The plate of stir fried dou miao was okay. It was fried well, not overdue and not undercooked.
We ordered 2 desserts from the Japanese dessert menu after. Variations of somewhat watery red bean paste with glutinous rice balls (zensai or oshiruko), served hot or cold with a scoop of ice cream. The red bean was mighty sweet, just like what they indicated on the menu with an icon with 3 pieces of candy.
Overall, the taste is okay. The dishes I ordered didn't taste bad. Service was alright, and we didn't have any trouble getting attention when we needed it (to order, to get the dessert menu).
Our meal cost about $60 for 2 people. We did order quite a few items though. And desserts were priced $6.70 and above, as I recall.

Outlet at waterwaypoint, so disappointing. Was only provided kbbq food to put in hotpot. Refill soups and everything self service. So many flies on the meat and the staffs dont care at all, enquired them about the food and they dont bother replying. Rubbish service and still expect me to pay service charge? Also, the meat was spoiled and had a sour taste to it. Please dont open a restaurant to poison customers.

The sign up as member @ $36 for $50 value voucher was not clearly explained in the literature nor the staff.
Upon payment, it was explained that the client could use up to Max 3 X $10 per visit. Plus 1 birthday month voucher used. Means I had to come again to use the remaining $20 voucher. Will be better to explain clearly during sign up.

Expected a buffet hotpot but no buffet option available. Food was mediocre and don't order the chirashi salad because they use cabbage (coleslaw type) for the salad base which tastes really bad. Won't visit again.

Food was mediocre, pricing value mediocre. Fried foods way too oily, and service ATROCIOUSLY slow. Will not return
