Chanced upon this place and decided to give it a go as craving for hotpot but not wanting to spend too much time.
Was impressed that they are still using charcoal fire for the fish steamboat. Ordered the pomfret one and while taste was good, but found that the amount of fishes and vegetables was a little bit too little for the price. Soup base able to top up but would recommend only one time top up as the third top up kinda start losing its taste.
Other side only ordered long beans and was quite nicely executed. Chilli sauce was also quite nice.
Perhaps will visit again if nearby to try other dishes for further review.

First visit here and we ordered red grouper steamboat. Fire was strong as they are still using charcoal 🔥. Soup was flavorful and other dishes were decent. Overall a comforting meal to have

Overall 3/5
Location 4/5
Food: 3/5
Cost- performance 3/5, the charcoal fish soup is nice, a pity the fish is not fresh. I would suggest 新源記 from bugis instead.
Service 4/5, staff are friend and attentive, can tell they have been there for a while.

It’s really just a tze char with air con. Nothing very special. Fermented bean curd pork was nice. Kang Kong was tasty although it looked unappealing. Fried rice was bland. Hor fun was almost bland. No wok hei. Prawn balls is likely from a frozen packet. What was surprising was the price. Kind of high for a tze char. We should have kept to small portions. Enough for 5 pax.

Visit on weekday around 7, both inside and outdoor seat are available. We had the red snapper 红哥. Can feed 2 to 3 person. Smell good with the salted fish but flavour is not salty at all. Taste slightly bland for me. fish is chunky, flaky. Is a big fish head. Other ingredients like yam, Bak Choi, seaweed. They also offer to top up the soup. Additional order of stir fried kailan with garlic. Really good. Fresh and all. After order they serve kimchi and marinated fruits, no mentioned of price and sort. They charge by plate not head count by the way. Overall fish head is okay. Kimchi and fruits taste good. I see most people not having the fish head. Good to try once.

The pomfret Steamboat soup was sweet and tasty, with lots of dried sole umami. I love the guava side dish appetiser. Their sambal kangkung was well fried with wok hei.

A colleague of mine recommended this place. We took our family (including my in-laws) that were visiting and we had a great dinner. Food was excellent and service was great. Not very pricey either.
We had promfret steamboat, fried chicken wing, hot plate bean curd and salted egg prawn. Even my children ages 2, 4 and 6 enjoyed it, and portions were huge.
I recommend this to anyone looking for a truly authentic Singapore dinner.
