Reviews Smiths Authentic British Fish And Chips

You don't need to go all the way to Britain to get a taste of authentic British fish and chips, cause here is about as close as we can get. The "standard" portion is kind of a misnomer - it's practically king-sized by Singaporean standards, but hey, that's Britain for ya. Kinda pricey but you get what you pay for and it's well worth the money spent. If you think it's hard on your wallet, it's probably even harder on your waistline. Still, a good place to hang out at if you don't mind splurging once in a while.

I have read some negative reviews here which I think were not fair cos of their expectations. I am a Singaporean who had lived in UK for 2 years. When I stepped into the shop till the food was served, including the way they wrapped the food, were so authentic. I felt that I was in England. I never liked the chips in UK but that's how they were prepared. I love the Haddock and so original. In UK, everything is self service and that's their culture. For those who expect first class service, this is definitely not the place you should patronise. All in all, I love the place and the food is so authentic. I will surely visit them again and I give 5 stars for their authenticity.

One of the better fish and chips we've had in Singapore. Tad pricey but servings are generous and the fish is fresh. We had the cod and halibut, both of which were fried to a perfect crisp in a light batter.

Best fish & chips in town - cod was great. If I had to complain ... give me a proper knife & fork - not some food court plastic thing!

Still my favorite place to get authentic British fish n chips. Been coming here ever since I was a kid and it is still great! I had the battered Cod and chips for $28++ and it was wonderful, fish was fried to order and perfectly crispy yet still moist inside not overly done and if I have to really nitpick the chips could have been fried more but that's very minor. Their menu also includes other British classics such as bangers and mash and pies.

One of the best fish and chips places. The portion is as big as the typical British fish and chips portion! They also have various types of fish you can choose from, like a true fish and chip place experience. However, the waiting time for the order to come is a bit long. Apart from that, all is good!

On 27/1, me and my dad decided to take a break from eating Chinese food and instead come to a place that serves food that doesn’t belong to Asian cuisine. This is the place where I had lunch. Environment and setting- I enjoyed it. Gives off vibes of a typical restaurant in London where they serve good food in a short period of time. Prices are plausible. Don’t have to wait for too long for the food. FISH AND CHIPS - Fish was perfectly cooked (no raw parts at all), has good flavour, moist, fresh and soft and crispy; fries was soft and is succulent especially when you put vinegar on top. Beef pie okay the outside was nice and soft. I expected it to have a bit of crunch but soft and nice works perfectly.Beef inside is perfectly cooked(not too hard or soft) tasty and not too salty haha. Scampy -crust has perfect balance of crunch and texture. Flavour was spot on especially after dipping it into Tatar sauce. Again not too salty as well. Coleslaw is is neither Great nor bad. Sauce is okay and veggies were nice. Overall delicious and good food. Would definitely introduce or recommend it to my friends or take my future date there.

A very British affair with Fish & Chips, Bangers & Mash, and Guinness Steak Pie. It be really making me miss the UK days. Fish and chips had a light and crispy exterior encasing the solid flakey fish. Top it with salt and vinegar and it's the closest to London we can experience in Singapore. Truly nobody does it batter in Singapore Accessibility features: Transport: bus stop outside Balmoral Plaza Outdoor: outdoor sitting available Entrance: flat even surface with pull open door Indoor: fairly wide Menu: black on white menu, counter ordering, self service Toilet: NA Not halal

Best and most authentic British fish n chips in Singapore by far! Having been to the best stall in Yorkshire IMO @ Whitby, though not the same, it is very comparable to the original. Highly recommended. Although if you’re a fan of American fish n chips, or fish n co style , this might not be for you. Make sure to douse your fish with heaps of vinegar salt, and get a side of mushy peas to compete the dish!

My wife and I avoided the lunch crowd and arrived for our late lunch at 3pm. Besides us, there was one other dine-in customer. We dined in the indoor air-conditioned area while the other customer dined in the outdoor terrace besides the retail corridor. We shared our orders of halibut and chips, and a beef pie. The halibut's portion was generous. While it tasted fresh, we drizzled vinegar over it to enhance the flavour. The beef pie was good and baked with lots of beef cubes.
