This ice cream store is amazing! There are a variety of flavors to choose from and each of the flavors are really delicious. The environment is also clean and conducive. However, there are some things that do not match. For example the waffle bowl is small and can barely fit 2 scoops of ice cream.
Salted Caramel has been a mainstay on this stretch for years. Their formula is simple and works - good ice cream and waffles.
I prefer this ice cream texture to Udders next door as it is light, milky but smooth - as if it is a "healthier choice" after pigging out with a full dinner! Most recently tried the seasonal toffee nut latte flavour (Christmas special, I believe) and enjoyed the praline streak. The ice cream itself wasn't outstanding but the waffle cone made the dessert - crisp with a light bite, but still held up well.
The young guy with a ponytail at the door was managing the queue very competently too.
Came here twice and really like that it opens till 11pm on certain days!
Ice-cream scoop starts at $3.80 which is quite affordable, and flavours aplenty! 🍨
Waffles are abit pricy in my opinion for this size. The waffles is on the soft side, light crisp on the edges. But batter tastes pretty good! Would go for a good batter waffle rather than a crispy no depth one 🧇 you get to choose a syrup of your choice as well! My friend chose Caramel, and she said it is one of the better caramels she has tasted and does not have the plastic after taste (Caramel lovers please take not 🍯😊)
Ambience is clean and comfortable! There is inside and outside seating as well!
Really awesome ice cream and latte.
Visited on Saturday late afternoon (around 4pm), was pretty crowded but managed to get a seat inside within 10mins.
Ordered 3 scoops of ice cream & hot houjicha latte:
1. Espresso & caramel biscuits
- Pleasant coffee taste & aroma, base ice cream is not too sweet and probably best of the 3 but the caramel biscuits can make it abit jelak.
2. Earl grey
- Mild Earl grey taste, personally prefer if the Earl grey was stronger but still quite well balanced.
3. Camomile honey
- Camomile was refreshing but the honey makes it a little too sweet in my opinion. Could be better if the sweetness was toned down a little.
The houjicha latte is good, milky with quite a strong houjicha flavour.
Overall, the base ice cream that I tasted are very good but could tone down the sweetness of the secondary flavours (biscuits & honey).
Will visit to try their other flavors.
Had been going to Salted Caramel for desserts whenever I go to Upper Thomson for dinner since my army days back in 2011. Their ice cream and waffles standards have been good and consistent since then! 😀
