Give the lovely people at Sideways a Diploma in Dipping because damn do they have some great dips (and freshly baked breads). Shoutout to the mint and feta dip, so vibrant and fresh it felt like having the Botanic Gardens in my mouth even though it's 13 train stations away. Another special mention to my favourite dish of an extraordinarily lovely night, the Stuffed Baby Squid. A sea-mphony so complex it can only be held together by an eight-limbed conductor, the dish was a perfect balance of textures and flavours. My only gripe? The steak was slightly over-cooked, but I'd say it was just a rare lapse on their end. Four point nine stars from this humble eater.

Nice ambience for a date night. I had a good Spritz Aperol, which it's something I'm really missing of my home town! The bread was for sure the other highlight of the dinner: they have a wood-fire oven and the quality of the bread was really really high! Totally recommended!

Dropped by because of the woodfired pizza but it was only available 4pm onwards 😭 Sideways spots a intimate setting great to wind down after a hectic work week. The Steak & Leek was good, but the crackling pork was a bit dry. I’ll be back someday to try the wood fired pizza!

Food here is rrreally good. Recommend trying everything including the vegetarian dishes. Sardine n pesto was really interesting. The bread were all delightful to go with the dips. A nice small restaurant. The drinks here though were really strong. Not for the faint hearted! Staff are friendly and genuine, although service can be a little slow. Overall, nice place and will likely be back to try other items on the menu!

Nice decor with lots of character. Favourite small plates were the cauliflower steak that was topped with a pretty pink beetroot tahini and roasted shrimps in a Japanese-tasting sauce. The smoked pork belly was quite a fatty cut which I had no problem with but did not quite go well with the tomato puree. For mains, we only tried the lamb rib and enjoyed everything on the plate. Both the sourdough and flatbread are amazing. We were informed that they would be introducing new breads soon.

We ordered the small plates - 6 plates for $78. Food was excellent! Only disappointment was the sourdough bread & lamb croquettes. Not sure if the baker had an off day but the sourdough bread which is supposed to be their signature was pretty normal. The lamb croquettes just did not pack any flavor. The other dishes (roast cauliflower, roasted shrimp, roasted rib eye, haloumi cheesecake & crispy artichoke) that we ordered were incredibly flavorful and delicious! My favourites we're the roasted rib eye & haloumi cheesecake. Service here was excellent. Will definitely be back to try other dishes.

Lovely staff! Shared 6 small plates with a friend and we were pretty stuffed. I’ll recommend doing the 6 small plates with a minimum of 3. Wonderful vibes as well when it’s quiet and felt like I was transported back to a restaurant overseas. Would love to try the sourdough bread and dips next time since they ran out this time.

The sourdough bread served up with the trio of dips was quite lovely. The dips were alright, the avocado pesto probably stood out the most. The rest of the food was just good, but they were not outstanding. Having said that, service was great and attentive.
