Review Ootoya - Singapore

The salad lunch set was value for money. It comes complete with Chawamushi, pickles and juice. It was enough to fill me up and its delicious too. The decor is getting a bit tired but food and serivce was welcoming.

Love the wall art inside. Try a variety of fishes - Grilled Buri :grilled yellowtail collar, eel, hokke and they are pleasanly savory and sweet- fish umami! Small serving of Chawanushi is good but slightly oversteam. Kimchi well aged pork is worth it. Overall ooi-shi-desu!

An okay meal, not great. Go in with an open mind. The oyakodon tasted more like teriyaki chicken with fried egg on top. If you like teriyaki chicken, it's okay. But if you're expecting legitimate oyakodon, you'd be disappointed. The fried stuff and grilled fish were okay. Best thing was the Hot Udon with Bonito flakes. These were spot on.

This is quite a squeezy place with good food. Try to sit behind for more privacy. It is super crowded on Saturday at 7pm. The food and service are good. But i think it is time to change the furniture.

Value for money set lunch. However, the taste was lackluster. The miso chicken tasted burnt and overly salty. Fried fish inside had jelly stuff, sent it back and it came back the same. Not sure if it’s uncooked batter or from the fish. The rest were ok.

Average experience. The area is wide with a main seating area. Some of the guest needs to enter into the tatami which I find it inconvenient, inside corner there is a seating area. Overall, it’s a very cramped space (not suitable for people with mobility disabilities). The food is average but the quantity is big - A lot of carbohydrates 😅.

Ootoya is a restaurant for premium Japanese teishoku meals. This restaurant need a Reno kind of run down dated. Staff are overall alright just that they may be stress over many walk-in n take away meals by delivery portals. Just saw staff with a slight face off with app delivery personnels’, is really no fault of her. Yes the meals choice ingredients are authentic n delicious. The unit is just opposite keisuke n this placed them in some disadvantaged compromising position like managing the crowds.

1st visit.★★★★☆ Their chirashi was delicious, but their soba noodle should be good but not so that day maybe due to the way of cooking soba noodle, I guess. Their pumpkin croquet was also tasty, but too pricy, personally I felt. ———————— ★☆☆☆☆ 2nd visit. Not worth for chirashi don only. So disappointing. Miserable potion of ingredients. Just feel like eating vinegar-taste rice. Never go again... ———————— ★★☆☆☆ Visited in late November, 2021. The quality was dropped dramatically. It seems all the staff have changed. Personally recommendable to visit other restaurants, to be honest.

I have been to Ootoya Clementi several times. I love their cod fish Kurozu. The black vinegar sauce used just complements the dish perfectly. They could increase the cod fish portion by a little though. Once I got only 3 small pieces, but another time I got 5 somewhat more generous pieces, which was more acceptable. I also tried their Gyutang & pork belly shiokouji. Both are delicious.

Having late lunch at Ootoya Family restaurant in Changi Point. Overall, food is good but portion is too little. The Ootoya chain restaurants in Japan are very generous with the food portion.

I came with my family on 28nov on Clementi Mall branch. Ordered the sashimi, and the sashimi tastes great, without the soy sauce, you can taste the natural sweet Flavours of the fish and shrimps, definitely one of the better sashimi places compared to else where. The beef steak and the pork belly is great too, it cane with a hot stone so you still have it hot while eating slowly. The meat is medium rare, the beef have its original sweet taste, they gave you an additional sauce which compliments the meat with an additional flavour which taste heavenly. Their pork belly is crispy on the outside and it's soft and tender in the inside, it's slowly melts in your mouth without you having to chew it. Their rice have its own flavour which gives you a taste of home in Japan. The downside of the restaurant is that, the portion is small for me and I have to order more stuff to fill myself.

Just had beefsteak steak at clementi mall. Lousy hard meat over cooked. I asked for medium rare. In the past the square n juicy ones are very tasty n fresh. Charged $23 too expensive for bad quality meat. Very disappointed. Will never order again. Told waitress did not change for me. Just said sorry meat was changed. Should not charge me for such lousy meat.

This is my only favorite jap restaurant in Singapore. My mom’s too. She only agrees to go out to eat if we going to this restaurant (serious!). We come here for birthdays, and all other celebrations. Food is always so fresh, yummy and of quality. Definitely highly recommended! ( this review is not because of the free dessert though cos I really love this place!)

Really love the nice ambience in Ootoya Clementi! Whenever my mom and I patronise, we will definitely order their amazingly healthy and delicious tofu salad - which I highly recommend btw! :) Though they may be quite understaffed, the staff are very patient and friendly without fail like Mermaid, the waitress. Their matcha desserts are pretty good too!

First visit to the Orchard Central branch.. As always, food and service are great and consistent. They serve one of the best grilled pork belly in town!

Tried the "Rice topped with Chicken Tatsuta with Spicy Sauce" at Orchard Central branch. Good mixed of meat and vegetables for this set meal. Good and friendly service by staff at this branch.

Very impressed by the flavours and portion sizes! I've tried several Japanese restaurants in Singapore and this one comes close to capturing authentic taste

The food was nice. However I was displeased with the service. I ordered a set meal (fish soup). I asked for a miso soup. The service personnel told me I could not have the miso soup because my order was a set of fish soup which my fish already put in the soup.
