I was trying to learn about Napa Valley & Sonoma wines for an upcoming vacation so wanted to visit a wine bar to get educated. A web search showed that most wine bars in Singapore have a heavy emphasis on French wines then I saw Praelum which offered an extensive wine list by the glass at reasonable prices. My visit turned out even better than expected and all because sommelier and General Manager Gerald Lu was dedicated to making wines & wine knowledge accessible to his customers. I ordered a wine flight from Napa/Sonoma and had 2 whites (Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay) and 2 reds (Pinot Noir, Zinfandel). Gerald then shared his extensive knowledge about Californian wines as we drank the wines - the climatic conditions, why the wines turned out that way, grape varieties in each region, biodynamic wines, use of oak vs stainless steel, Judgement of Paris 1976 etc. It's like receiving a personal tutorial from a Master Sommelier and that's because Gerald is taking one of the hardest exams known to man the Court of Master Sommelier (featured in the wine cult movie 'The Somms' and less than 230 people have passed this wine exam since it's inception). Gerald also went out of his way to offer recommendations for food & vineyards in that region and connecting me to cult wine makers.

Went there for Valentine's Day dinner this year and it was one of the best meals I've had in awhile. The team knows how to recommend wine according to your food ordered and it was perfect. Overall, my experience was phenomenon! Thanks!

Came here for Restaurant Week 2015-- one heck of a taste explosion I keep saying this, but I was never a ribs person until Texas changed me. Now I understand that the really good ribs simply fall off the bone & fortunately I now know how to appreciate those! This was exactly that; a slow cooked for 3 hours kind of heaven. Seafood casserole, I may be biased, but I love anything seafood. A good mix of different kinds, a great proportion of everything harmoniously coming together with perfectly cooked potatoes & cheese. & the Crème brûlée was simply one of THE best I've ever had in my life. Another plus point about this place - impeccable service & polite waitstaff (including the owner himself) who are so attentive to every detail really made this dining experience very pleasant. I've never experienced such stellar service in any dining establishment in Singapore, not even the "higher end"/fancy-schmancy poshnosh kind of places. & yes, I just had to let them know I had a very enjoyable time.

Gerald and his team really showed so much passion in their love for wine. They were incredibly kind and did my company a huge favour last night. We owe it to them for the wonderful event we had. Please look for Praelum Wine Bistro for your next glass of absolute bliss!

They have a very wide selection of wines. If you're not sure what to have, the sommelier will have you taken care of. Food is pretty good too, was served warm toasty bread with garlic spread before the appetizers and mains arrive. Would recommend for every occasion that wont hurt your wallet!

You can see the staff are passionate about their work and it's the first time a sommelier told me the story of the wine yard of the wine I chose

Wonderful dinner we had at Praelum tonight. Great Food and wonderful company. Our first time there and already we seem to have known Gerald for such a long time. Would certainly be a place we'd come back to often. Certainly, a place to come to for wines!

We had our team gathering here, and the Praelum team was extremely fun and supportive. We had our own space upstairs, where they'd normally host their wine tasting sessions. Very fast service of food and drinks, and great value for money. The wine selection is also quite decent. Especially enjoyed our time there, with awesome conversations had.

If you are looking for a place to chill over good food and wine, here it is. The staff is very friendly and attentive - a key factor for me to decide whether or not to go back to a place. The ambience and vibe makes the evening experience here always a memorable one.

Came here for a wine tasting event and was surprised it’s at level 2. Didn’t know they have a level 2 that is nicely decorated and suitable for private events. Praelum has a wide range of wines! Lovely place and great service. Should come here more!

Ironic for a non drinker to go to a wine bar, but they do have a lot of wine options if that's your thing. The food was really good too!

Extensive wine list and attentive service. Staff were high spirits but if could add a little souls in conversation will make a difference in service. A small wine bar that serves nice quality food . The Cod fish and crab cakes were fresh and delicious. Little disappointed with baked brie as it didn't seem baked enough , the brie were not hot nor melted. Will come back to try out other wines soon.
