Returning for dinner after quite some time. Situated on second floor on Craig street. Nicely decorated with Chinese contemporary art pieces the ambience is pleasant and colorful. Dishes are nicely “assembled” and tasteful. Just a tad little for most guests.

Impressive food and service, and I shared concerns on wine being expensive a year ago. I came back after one year, much improved wine menu with much more options and reasonable cost! Trust the recommendation from Lewis, the restaurant manager, it is very good! Also chef has tried new dishes this time, very very good. Highly recommended.

Excellent food and service. They extended a special promotion to me after I asked nicely and they made sure the special request was handled correctly. Service was very friendly and they explained every dish. Would definitely love to come back!

This review is for Xi Yan at Shaw Centre. I've had Xi Yan at Craig Road a long time ago, had excellent Chinese fine dining, and one of the best glasses of red wine there, an extremely good bottle of Penfolds. Xi Yan at Shaw Centre is for the budget conscious, compared to the one at Craig Road, most small sized dishes are around $10 and feeds 2. We had lo shi fan hakka style which is Mee tai bak - mousetail noodles topped with minced pork. My mom loves this dish as this dish and all the rest here are just salted enough, not too much. We also ordered the Yunnan ham niang dou fu in special broth, another signature here. Can clearly taste that the Yong tau Foo is traditional hakka style, not the mass produced type. Another signature we all had our eyes on was the pork patties minced with salted fish and water chestnuts, which sported slightly charred sides. Cutting through was an even cooked colour, none of the pink pork centers we've accustomed to find. Slight crisp and a good umami taste, but not too salty, superb. Best I've had. The bitter melon with minced pork and crispy olive leaves was very good too. All not so salty. For desserts, we had golden custard Tang yuan in ginger soup, which had spicy not too sweet soup. I had a first: salted egg yolk pumpkin ice cream atop pandan glutinous rice. Everything here is spiced and salted just right, not over the top like most places. My parents loved this place and we will definitely be back. Deserves 6 stars!
The service here was excellent. The server asked our permission if it was OK to seat another party at the table next to us.

Having seen a number of good reviews about Xi Yan, decided to bring my bestie for her birthday treat. We reached at 2.20pm and staff informed that kitchen closes at 2.30pm. We promptly ordered and food was served quickly. However, as we were eating halfway, 1 waitress came to give the bill. Fine. We Settled the bill and continued eating. Lights begin to be turned off. Then a staff say that the restaurant is closed. I think that was about 3pm or earlier. But the two of us continued eating in the dimly lit restaurant. Finally we decided to leave with our food unfinished cos the staff was all ready to hurry us out.
Quite an unpleasant experience.

15 of us celebrated our 50th birthdays at XiYan last Saturday. The manager, Louis did a fantastic job in hosting us to the private party. The food was over the top, ambience was cosy and the service, impeccable... the joy, priceless! A must go-to for celebrations and good food.

Jacky Yu is such a creative n extremely talented Chef. I was at Xu Yan yesterday for food tasting. Nine new dishes were created for the coming anniversary this October. The dishes were amazingly crafted together, giving the palate a real treat. I can’t wait for the dishes to launch cos I would love to take my family there. 👍🏻😋

Was at the Shaw centre Xi Yan a few days ago. This is a hidden gem in Orchard Vicinity, restaurant was tucked in a far end corner of the newly renovated Shaw Centre. We love this super yummy Salivating Chicken in spicy sauce, it is a must try ! Other yummy dishes we like , are the braise pork in preserve vegetable, shredded chicken in peanut sauce, and the fried rice !

In order to post a comment, I have to award a star. It's one of my worst dining experience ever. Food portion is shockingly small in portion and the service is horrendous. Never going to step back in. So be warned.

We were at Xi Yan Craig Road for Kelvin and Michelle wedding banquet for 60pax last Sat 1 Oct. Food was great, atmosphere very pleasant, with perfectly paired vino by Jimmo. I liked the art pieces on the wall. Service would have been perfect had it not been for a little hickup..one of our fren was given a truly warm welcome with a bowl of silky tofu in Golden broth on his front...what a shame..I could have had a 2nd helping ;) Wonderful and memorable evening - A perfect choice.

We went to Yi Yan at Shaw centre yesterday 11 Jan with a group of friends and 2 kids. Our experience with Yi yan causal was unpleasant . My youngest was asleep in a stroller and was told twice to leave it at the front of the restaurant while we seat inside and we didn't so we shifted to a table at the front. And the waitress clear the bowls and plates before we finished our meals. Although food was great but we will hesitate going back due to poor service.
