Review Oberstrasse - Singapore

Joseph Tan
Have seen this usual favourite place for awhile and it is often packed during both peak hours and non peaks hours as workers and residents nearby would often gather at this place for a meal, tea break or drinks for catching up etc with friends, colleagues or family. Toast box offer rather their usual menu of their trademark food and beverages at this outlet.

One of the best iced Coffee I’ve had in Singapore. The Cafe is really clean and Hygienic. It is located opposite to the V Lavender Hotel. I ordered Regular Iced Coffee with Ice which was very soothing and bit strong than I have in India. The Customer Service is really appreciated and friendly. It was for 1.90 $ sgd which is quite affordable. I like the cute little string kind of bag thing they give for the takeaway people, helpful for travelling and carrying easily. Cheers on your visit.

Toast Box Good local delicacies served here and affordable. We took the coffee and hot Milo. However, the kaya bread was the show stopper. It was fluffy and had a gooey consistency. It was so delicious. The peanut toast was equally crispy and fluffy. Overall, a good place.

Waited for more than 20 minutes for my order even though I came at a non-peak hour and the outlet is not crowded! But what angered me is not the long waiting time, but the HORRIBLE attitude of the elderly auntie staff member at the back. Not only have she completely forgotten about my order, she did not seem sorry at all and replied RUDELY when I politely reminded her of my order. She started preparing only after I reminded her lol. Afterwards, this SAME auntie staff member abruptly removed my belongings saying that a group of people needs my seat. I have barely eaten my food and moreover, there is another guy who have just finished his food. She could have asked him to move instead. But again, I really didn't mind moving to another seat. What frustrated me AGAIN, by this SAME auntie, is her sarcastic, rude and condescending attitude. Another thing - there was a group of people chatting loudly and yet this auntie staff member remained indifferent and distracted as she was busy chit-chatting during her working hours. Crude and ill-mannered aunties like her really bring down the service standard. My appetite was completely ruined by this poorly-trained auntie. Please train people like her to be more self-aware and to have better manners. (Male counter staff was kind and polite though, unlike this auntie)

The roti kaya has a bit too much butter n too little kaya.

Should have read the Lowest reviews before entering the cafe .As can be read many of them have pointed out the Rude Behavior/attitude of the staff at the counter. The cafe is doing a business and not charity that you show attitude to the customer/Tourist who are humble and polite but only thing is they are new to the menu and has right to know about the food before they order . Don't forget you are into hospitality.

One of the worse service toast box experience. First was the lady who queued in front of me was shown attitude by cashier because she had a problem with her cashier system. The lady was quite stunned and she kept quiet. Later was my toast completely missed out then came the supervisor to serve the toast to me. No sense of being apologetic at all. Worse than a neighbourhood kopi tiam. 👎🏻

To me, this shop sells one of the better tasting local food! Especially the laksa soup was great. However, it's quite expensive

Surprisingly good food around the corner with all their prices inclusive of GST. Had the Farmer'a rosti - big portion of rosti with a veal bratwurst and a sunny side up; portion enough for a grown man! Will come back again. Good food value for money :)

My boyfriend and I have been regulars at this place for the past couple of months. We used to complain about how expensive cafe food in the area can be so we're pleasantly surprised to find that Oberstrasse not only serves sizeable portions of delicious food, they also come at a very reasonable price too. We really like the service staff as well (especially the server who wears this bacon and eggs t-shirt occasionally). This is what keeps us coming back every weekend. :)

Disappointing Norwegian Rosti, too oily and its sour cream wasn't even sour. Smoked salmon was flaky and chewy. The cheese in Salmon Shroom Baked Rice was overly salty and rice was undercooked. The only thing I would probably recommend coming here for coffee and desserts.

I come here for lunch a lot as my Creative Writing School is on the 4th level of the building. Love all the food I've tasted before, especially the poached eggs with hollandaise sauce and Rosti with Salmon! Highly recommend it!

Loved the serene cosy environment. The thoughtfulness and service made the experience a fantastic One. I visited the cafe on a warm weekday afternoon. I wanted a tea but didn't want it warm due to the weather. I asked if I could have my tea cold with extra ice which they gladly made for me.. And I was told I could have a refill too as they had set my tea bag aside to allow them. Loved the extra mile that the staff had gone into to make the experience so great. I had a French toast which I personally would love it better if it had been softer. The toast got a little tough and chewy when I had it But I did take some time to eat the dish after it was served. The luncheon fries was a definite "decadent" treat. Latte was great too. And thanks Oberstrasse for providing free Wi-Fi service.. Definitely a nice place to to chill out on a relaxing afternoon

I like this cafe They serve good breakfast and nice coffee at reasonable price. Egg benedict, savoury waffle and 2 cup of coffees cost $32

Excellent service. The place was really crowded at lunchtime. The owner was very friendly. He offered us some drinks to apologize for the long wait. Food and drinks were huge and of good quality. Will definitely come back again.

I've always enjoyed my meals at Oberstrasse. But today's meal was a disappointment - had to send back rosti that was burnt. And waffles too - burnt with bitter taste. Hope that they can maintain consistency in the cooking.

Great Breakfast! You enter the shop feeling curious about the name then you get greeted with smiles. Loved their bacon and the Eggs Benedict. Superb! Hotel-class I should say, will have my everyday bfast here if I could.
