Review Wee Nam Kee Chicken Rice Restaurant - Singapore

Vani Oktavia Sugiharto
This is the first time I got here. For lunch, it's better you go before the lunch time, example 11 a.m. So you don't have to que. I ordered: 1. BBQ Pork Dumpling Set 2. Roasted Pork Vegetable Set For restaurant, the price is affordable. And for the meal, it's delicious.

We found this place was fairly well rated and their pics looked pretty good too, soo we ventured out to give it a go - boy, we were so happy we did!! . The decor isn’t like super insta-flashy or anything but that made it appeal even more to us as a place that just did good food well 👍🏻 . We were surprised they did crabs 🦀 as well so definitely had to give them a go too. We ordered: ~ 2x Singapore Chilli Crabs ~ Whole Hainan Chicken ~ BBQ pork ~ Belachan Kang Kong . Let’s start with the crab. It was amazing! Loads of roe, meaty and the sauce was epic. It was perfect to soak up with the fried mantou (buns). Luckily we got 2 cos we completely demolished them (probably could have done another 2 lolol 😏🤭) . The chicken was good too, most of it was super tender, just a few breast pieces that were a touch on the “well cooked” side but overall tasted great 👍🏻 . The kang kong veggies were super yummy too. Love eating these kinds of veggie dishes in Asian countries cos it’s super inexpensive but very very yummy and full of wokchi 🔥🔥 . A lovely place that we’re glad we tried out and to our surprise had amazing crabs 🦀 as well as the chicken 🐓

As I live fairly nearby, my family and I used to patronised its outlet that was located along Thomson Road. Ever since it shifted to United Square, we have not try. We came this afternoon and there was a Q. We waited in line for about 10 mins and was ushered to our table. We ordered: 1. Chicken for 2pax 2. Mixed Roast pork & Char Siew 3. Prawn roll (small) 4. Sambal Kang Kong 5. Dumpling soup (6 pcs) 6. 1 plain rice 7. 1 chicken rice Total damage: $54.15 Food reviews (subject to personal taste): 1. Normal chicken - doesn't give me the smooth texture or tasted succulent. Cucumber not even whole slices but within the big slice, sliced up even more 2. Roast pork tip didn't have that crunch which was disappointing. Char siew was little chunky sliced up and not much of charred flavour 3. Prawn Roll dish was decent for me 4. Sambal Kang Kong came out extremely salty and had to send back to change another. When returned 2nd time, it was still salty. Staff shared with sambal is such and is salty. We didn't want to comment much as for those who cook, is the amount of sauce/salt that a chef adds. Thus is adjustable. 5. Dumpling soup was decent 7. Chicken rice didn't capture the essence of chicken stock(if they use to cook)

Recommended by son, as I have not heard of this chicken rice before. (I am not a chicken rice fan) And was surprised with the high rating. So we went with high expectations. Rice was fragrance and came quite a small portion. The roasted chicken meat was soft and tender. The sauce was too sweet for my liking. At least there are some dishes that we can order beside eating chicken meat.

Price has been up abit. Dinner for 2 pax $33 max full, chicken taste same as most other foods hawker centre. Kang kong very nice but $9 is expensive, sambal very nice. Dumpling soup nothing special to me. Place very warm traditional style, good for family weekend dinning.

Wee Nam Kee is a well known Hainanese Chicken Rice restaurant that also serves other Chinese dishes in its menu. However it’s really known more for its authentic and delicious Hainanese Chicken Rice. The chicken is tender, juicy, fragrant and cooked to perfection. The rice is also just right, not too oily and has enough flavor and fragrance. A Chicken drumstick set includes choice of steamed oyster vegetable (Kailan) and/or pork dumplings. I opted for both! The set also comes with either lemon tea or barley (choice of hot or cold). Superb! 4/5!

They got the order wrong. We got the normal chicken breast instead of drumstick. The breast meat was dry. BBQ pork was red and not charred enough However the rice and chili were on the spot for us. Veg cooked perfectly. Can skip the dumplings. If you come in a group, order their other ala cart dishes. Taste good on ours and looks good on tables across

Prices has gone up abit, but I guess that's happening everywhere. The chicken rice set (be it dumpling soup or vege set) are now $10.50 but a drink (barley or lemon tea) is added to it. Food standards still good.

My sister went to place an order at around 1056am, ordered 4 plates of rice and half a chicken. She then decided to include a plate of sambal kangkong to which the staff taking the order told my sister that the zi-char (sambal kangkong) will only be open at 11am. The staff told my sister to come back and place the order for sambal kangkong again after 11am. We did not place any order for the sambal kangkong. Understandable that the cash register may not be able to key in this order but the staff could have taken the order first and inform us that we can make payment for the dish instead of turning it down with just 4mins to 11am. Alternatively, they could even place a signage and inform patrons zi-char only available after 11am. The inflexibility is definitely a turn-off.

Went to the Jurong point outlet. There are empty seats inside the restaurant. We queued to get our seat, a lady initially came to usher us inside, then came a bespectacled waiter telling us to queue again saying we queued at the wrong place but he ushered a lady behind us to a seat instead! Wat kind of service is this??? If u telling me we queued at the wrong place why did u usher the lady behind us to a seat??? That idiot waiter did not even bother to explain in a nice way but he continued arguing. Don't tell me the lady behind us is a VVIP???? This is the worst service I ever came across. Even if u offer me free food NEVER will I ever step into that place again! I rather pay more to get better service elsewhere!!!! 🤬😡

Would like to feedback the outlet at Jurong point. Food is ok. However, the staff in black talk guy should be courteous in assisting customers for seats. It was ridiculous to set rules that all customers need to be around before we are given seats. I encountered this today, staff was funny to actually asked me to look at the menu at the back of the queue as I was looking on the display area. He claimed that people infront want to see, I was only looking at the menu and those people at the back already looking at the menu so why he kept directing me to the back?! For the service of the staffs, I would give 2 stars. Thou the business is good restaurant should also be humble in serving customers.

I also got bad experience at the new open jurong point outlet.being a solo customer waiting to be usher in but they igonore me and I was standing there ,keep ushering others behind me when the couple behind me just when in seat n then go out without ordering. When I ask the cashier why no a bowl of soup with a plate of char siew rice .she say i need to request . When i make payment she just ignore me n just put my change on the counter like not willing to give, where got free flow of smile as said on the entrance ..very bad customer service

I went to wee nam Kee Yishun north Point outlet. The customer services is terrible. I was force to give a 1 Star. Not even worth a star. Their service crews all seem extremely busy and couldn’t be bother to check if you’re ready to make a order unless you call for them. They assigned a Chinese male guy with black frame to take our order, the first thing he said (translate in English) “ come, what you want to order, quick “ 来,你要 order 什么,快点!” .... why did you ask your customer to quickly order? When I asked him what’s the differences, he showed unwillingness & impatience to brush us off to make a quick order. Even when he double check on the order, he do it for the sake of it. Seems like he’s a operation manager or something because all the other crews listened to his instructions. All their crews seems unhappy, grumpy with their work. Why did I spent my money to have a dinner and have to see their grumpy faces and attitude problem? Food was average only. Served me a plate of Kang Kong I ordered, no rice? 3 adults looking at the plate of Kang Kong. Lol. This is my first and definitely the last time here. They only focused on takeaways and let dine in customers wait.

Excellent location! The chicken rice it’s just amazing! The portions are good, but still overpriced in my opinion!

One of the best chicken rice I’ve ever had. The rice itself was super flavourful! The chicken was juicy and tender, noodle was great. Although the pork was so so, still was very satisfied with everything. And also very affordable ;)

Had the best CHICKEN RICE here in Wee Nam Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice Restaurant. It is really one of my favorite dish everytime I visit Singapore and I am happy I found a perfect place where I can eat my favorite Singapore Chicken Rice.

Wee Nam Kee Chicken Rice is a very famous restaurant in Singapore. I have visited Singapore and Japan, so I visited for the first time in a while.
It was delicious because it was cooked with the same recipe, and the family was also delighted.

Nice chinese food
Nice place (very busy during lunch hour tho)
Affordable price

The pork here is very nice but my personally recommended one is the suikiaw or 水饺。They also sell healthy soup, though the appearance might not be attractive.
If you wanna stay longer and eat slowly, it's suggested not to go there at peak hours.

Their taste is so good. One of the most delicious for steamed chicken. The place is dirty and untidy. The price is very good. Not expensive comparing to their good food. The service is not their strong point but the cashier is very kind but i forgot the name hahaha.. sorry

Actual review: 3.5/5
When you are there, just order the chicken rice. It’s pretty good.
The char siew wasn’t fantastic (meat was too lean) and roast pork was still alright. Not worth $18 for the 2 types of meat.

Been having this gold since 2008, and it never disappoints both my palate / tummy. The consistency of dat roast chicken recipe and the refillable soup is something i valued beyond words. Juicy succulent chicken as always ! Thank you for always serving good food :)

Went here for brunch and i've been craving for chicken rice. Since it is very famous for its chicken rice, so me and my friends gave it a try.

Service: The waitress was not that kind but also not that rude, they just want the service to be real quick. it took a bit long for the food to come (probably since it was lunch hours) 2.5/5

1. Chicken Rice : SGD 4.80
- picked the steam sauce chicken, the fragrant rice itself was already tasty, the chicken was so tender and moist, we also got soup (forgot to take a picture of it) for $4.80 the portion was quite large including the chicken, overall it was very delicious! 4.5/5
2. BBQ & Roasted Pork : SGD 12.00 (smallest portion)
- BBQ Pork: the barbecue sauce on the bbq pork was very good, sweet but not too sweet. the pork was also tender! 4/5
- Roasted Pork: it was a bit hard to chew for the skin, not that crispy. too salty, but it's fine since they provide condiments such as chilli sauce and dark soy sauce! 3/5

Overall the dishes were good especially the chicken rice (their specialty). definitely will be back here when visiting Singapore!

Had dinner with family of 8 and toddlers, distance not stopping us to travel for nice chicken rice.
Very famous with the chicken and indeed. This my 2nd time enjoyed meal here and now they moved to new store with aircond. Improved definitely!!
Although presentation is average, and place is standard. But all you need just nice chicken rice here.

Need to book to avoid queue and they served very quick.
Enjoyable and definitely come back.

One of the place we always visit whenever in Singapore (not because its a short walk away from my sister's apartment) but because it is now our go-to Hainan chicken rice place... obviously the chicken rice and the chicken (both the normal and soya ones) are great.. but in our last trip we also ordered other dishes which was all above my expectations... Note: they used to have smaller shops nearby before they moved to a bigger, better, air conditioned place in United Square...

Yummiest chicken rice in town! We ordered steamed chicken, hainanese rice, cha siu, dumpling soup and veggie. My most favorite dish is the chicken rice. You need to queue to get your table though. Although it looked like a verrrry long queue but the staffs were efficient and fast! We got our table less than 30 minutes. Worth try wait and try!

Might as well dine here to experience the buzz around their Hainanese Chicken Rice. Though there are several branches of this in Manila (first branch HERE), I had to experience the origin of it all. So how did this compare? Were the branches in Manila up to par with the original one?. At lunch hour on a Sunday, this place was packed. And there were people outside waiting to be seated. I guess it has become one of those places where locals could get their dose of comfort Singaporean dishes. There were foreigners too (count me in!) gearing up for their famous chicken rice. I noticed that they served hand wipes here. Yeah, had to note that ‘coz my first dining experience in their Makati branch didn’t had this. The usual sauces and garnishes were placed at this metal tray. I only had a slight problem with the container of the dark soy sauce. I wish they placed it in the same container that holds the garlic and the chilli. Something must be said about the garlic mixture too. It was indeed very garlicky. I placed too much on my sauce concoction that was good enough to ward off vampires away!
