Review Dolce Tokyo - Singapore

The wooden and industrial decor provides a warm ambience for dining. Service could be improved although you can sense that they are trying. It is a bold move to feature an extensive menu and I took a risk to order their pork kurabuto katsu curry rice which costs almost the same in a Japanese restaurant. The katsu was good. Thick succulent and juicy and I like the chunky carrot potato curry sauce that tends to be on the spicy side. It would be a more pleasant meal if the portion of shredded cabbage be larger. At this price of $19++ most Japanese restaurants would top up the shredded lettuce without charge. Over here the staff mumbled some undecipherable words which I safely assumed that it's not. The red velvet cake was presented in a large bird cage that was impressive . It's top with an interesting layer of toasted shredded coconut. It's served cold and I would advise about 5 to 10 min to allow the cake acclimatise to room temperature.

I think the volume and quality of the food surprised me. Eggs were well done, and the pancakes were warm and fluffy. The mushroom dish had a rich umami flavour and was pretty hearty. While the matcha drinks were nice, the matcha was not really something to write home about.

For a jaoanese/Italian fusion their western food is pretty good. (Had the Japanese before, not bad. Expensive but a bit closer to real Japanese). The fish burger is decent price and the steak quite reasonable for quality meat. Good service, friendly staff. Not so quick but ok as fresh. Definitely one of the better venues for MOF.

Main course wise is ok, came for an afternoon tea this time round. Gimmicks is definitely more than substance here. It's $13SGD tea special of one cake n a drink. From the selection of any cakes n most drinks on the menu. Quantity is definitely visible here, for the cake. It's huge. Serve in a bird cage. Drinks are ok. I find their signature ice mint tea lovely as the mint are freshly blend to made the tea. It's a cafe within a huge bird cage. It's located in the middle of a section of the mall. You probably look like prisoner with those bar between the general public passing by and you . If you are looking for quantity, you are welcome. Quality wise I do not really have much recollection after dining here on and off for more than 3 years.

Western food with Japanese fusion style. The food taste nothing special and price are a bit high. The service is a bad experience for this kind of setup and pricing.

Tried Dolce Tokyo and the food was alright. The portion of the food as seen is normal and the price is slightly above a normal meal. Definitely could have eaten better food at Bugis Plus

Went to this place because it was pretty much never crowded and kind of quiet. A nice break from Bugis Junction's super fast pace. Tried the Creme Brulee and Panna Cotta. Both are whipped up in a few seconds (probably reheated, but hey fast service) and they taste pretty decent.

The pancakes was warm and comforting with the right level of sweetness but would have been better if the pancakes were bigger. The macha gelato was alright. Plain water is provided and you can help yourself.
