My go-to restaurant for premium cuts of beef! Each dish was skillfully prepared and cooked to perfection. My top four favourite dishes are the Yen's special salad, ox tongue, wagyu oyster blade and the wagyu full blood rib eye. A big shout out to Chef Jones and Chef Blackie for the great dining experience! Will definitely come back for more! P.S. Love the music selection too! :D
Cozy place with fine meal, professional staff. A must-go place in Singapore.
Went for dinner on 19th August as a group of four. Had a great time and was well looked after by the team here. Favourite cuts were the oyster blade, pork jowl and strip loin. Scallops are to die for, just melt in the mouth. Can't wait for the next time!!!
Amazing dining experience with plenty interaction with the chef serving you. Food are fabulous and super fresh.
Chef are all so professional and offers recommendation on the cooking flavours.
Highly recommended!
Hands down the best Yakiniku joint in SG and my fave new restaurant! Amazing beef expertly grilled coupled with really attentive service, can't wait to dine there again.
Hands down my favorite new restaurant. Really appreciated how despite how busy opening night was, dinner service began on time. Thumbs up to chef jones for crafting a balanced meal - different types of wagyu, seafood, veg. Service was personable and responsive. For a bottle of Pinot, sake and generous servings of good, felt I got extreme value at around 180/pax. Addictive dinning experience for serious foodies.
I’m genuinely surprised by some of the brickbats, as I have nothing but bouquets and praise for Jones, the head chef, and his friendly and personable crew. Yen’s concept is pretty unique – the skilled chef preparing your choice of meats provides you with personalized counter service.
If you’re there, try to get Jones or his buddy from Taiwan to serve you (pity I didn’t get his name). They’re something of a triple threat – not only are they fantastic cooks, they are also extremely knowledgeable about their ingredients, and are excellent presenters skilled at sharing that information.
It’s not cheap, but you get what you pay for – the meat here is of the highest quality, and selected with care by Jones, including some uncommon cuts of beef and pork. But don't take my word for it, try it for yourself!
It’s a small restaurant, so be sure to book ahead of time.
Great ambiance, yummy food and friendly staff . Higher recommended .
The best Yakiniku you could ever have in Singapore!
People here is really friendly and the food is excellent. If you ever been to Singapore, then you must come and try!!!
Yummy beef and friendly staff .
Highly recommended .
Googled for yakiniku at the last minute and found this place this evening. We were more than pleasantly surprised! It was excellent! Really enjoyed it and will definitely be back!
Food was great. Service was good as well. Nice place to eat especially if you love beef.
Awesome service, have never experienced something on par in Singapore. Very sincere, not pretentious at all. Absolutely delicious cuts. Worth every penny.
Have been a fan since I had it in taiwan the first time. Absolutely love the food and is worth every penny. U guys have ruined me as i find normal beef unacceptable anymore... :)
😋So delicious! And the chef Jones is professional.👍
This has always been my ‘go to’ place to indulge in beef cravings. In Recent times, their main stay seems to be omi beef grade A5.
Their off menu cuts are pretty good like the oyster blade steaks (not the thin pieces on the menu which is so-so). The Japanese scallops are to die for. Prawns are ok. The rest of the poultry and pork items are fine. They do have specials sometimes, like sukiyaki and their ox tongue soup which blew me away. I like it when a restaurant is progressive and experimental serving up off menu items (of course they have to be good)
The staff there and service are always great. Vincent takes the time to explain stuff to u. The whole team is engaging and fun.
Pricey pricey pricey unfortunately but the draw is there for repeated returns.
This has got to be one of the best Japanese yakiniku in Singapore. Being a regular of Taipei based Da Wan Yakiniku, it is hard not to compare
Yen with Da Wan. The quality of meat and food are well executed. Service was good with the chef doing all the grilling for you. Price is reasonable for the quality cuts. Great for date nights or just hanging out with friends. Only minus is the time allocated for the first dinner slot, even if you had booked for 6.30pm, you will need to leave by 8pm. Will also be great if there are lockers to store bulky items since the seatings are all bar seats.
Good selection of pork and beef parts. Delicious but premium. Be prepared for $200 per pax.
Booked the first seating, do note if you book 7pm will still be asked to leave for second seating.
Staff are nice and friendly, however, due to the mask and distance, I can’t quite hear what they are saying (not anyone’s fault). 😅
Beef is amazing, my favourites are rib eye and fried rice. Actually fried rice may outperform wagyu beef for the first time.
One of the best Yakiniku place in Singapore. The quality of the meat and the professionalism of the staff and chef were translated on to the food. Amazing taste, absolutely fantastic. You pay what you get. It is a premium restaurant but your foods are premium as well!!!
My 2nd time here, 1st time was for my birthday and I was totally blown away by the food and service. Yes it's expensive but the experience you get is worth it. You get to try beef parts that are not available elsewhere, and the staff there grills right in front of you and also explain to you in detail.
It can easily cost more than a hundred for a person, but just take it as an enjoyment after toiling so hard at work haha. Just imagine the meat melting in your mouth, and the juice is spreading throughout your entire taste buds.
Five stars cos I like the food and service, just be prepared to spend on yourself. But if you bring a date, good luck to your wallet hahaha.
