Review Toby's Estate - Singapore

Came here on a Sunday for brunch and it was pretty crowded. AFAIK they don't accept reservations so we had to do a walk-in. Fortunately we managed to get a table on the inside for 4 almost immediately. So yes, they have indoor and outdoor seats. If the weather is great, outdoor seats give you a good view of the river and the surroundings. The interior is comfortable, mostly suitable for a group of 4. They do have a large table for bigger groups, but since they don't accept reservations, I won't bet on it. The food is good. They are served pretty quickly so you won't need to wait long. They do have child seats for it is suitable for children. The menu, I feel, not so much though. But I don't blame them, the area is really meant for adults. Parking is a bit tricky if you drive. I had to park at the nearby M Social hotel and walk a little. Cashless payments accepted. Definitely worth visiting again.

Outdoor dining is highly recommended, but a popular place, right on the river. Waiting time for a Sunday morning without booking was 10~15min. Super friendly staff, quick service. The QR code menu is simple and fast. It's not the cheapest place for breakfast, but the food quality and outdoor dining make up for it.

decent place to get brunch but it was quite confusing as they got the orders mixed up and my friend’s food only came much later. The iced oat mocha was above average at $8.30 for a cup. The scrambled eggs were good and the muffin was soft and warm. Be sure to check the receipt for the items charged! The place is on entertainer and there’s 1 for 1 mains here which makes it more affordable. Else at this price point, there are better options.
FIVE-A-DAY
The restaurant is opened as early as 7.30am. It was a public holiday, we reached the restaurant at about 8am for breakfast. It was still quiet with only a couple other diners at that time. The restaurant oversees the Singapore River and it is really pleasant to have a nice breakfast with the lovely view. We ordered the brekkie of champions, surf and turf and breakfast tacos. Not only are these dishes 'Instagramable', they were tasty too. Brekkie of champions is really a full English breakfast, with 'everything' in it and is a sufficient platter for both my grown boys. As for my surf and turf, I really loved how the eggs were being scrambled and it actually goes right with the stewed beef and smoked salmon (if not the smoked salmon can be pretty salty when eaten on its own). The tacos were good and the restaurant weren't stingy with the fillings. The service crew are friendly and responsive too. The crowd starts to come in nearer to 9am, so be there early if you wish to have a nice quiet and peaceful breakfast by the river on weekends/public holidays. Had a delightful experience dining here, will probably be back to try the other items on the menu.

4 stars for the Cortado I ordered. If you love an intense coffee, I highly recommend it as this was really well done. It is intense enough without the acidity — I find that a lot of places struggle with this. Well worth the price tag of $4.8 before GST. Surf and turf was disappointing. While the pulled pork was great, the entire dish felt too “wet”. Wasn’t very impressed and the hollandaise sauce didn’t stand out as well. Would give this a miss. Prawns and clams pasta — had a bite of my friend’s and seemed pretty good actually! Quite generous with ingredients too. Overall service was ok, not bad but not great either. Reached at about 12 and got a seat indoors immediately so that was fab. Would return to try other mains!

Nice brunch place with chill vibes. Hot chocolate is nice and creamy. Eggs Benedict and French toast really tasty. Poached eggs done very well ! Kinda overpriced though..Food took long - about an hour to come, probably because Sunday is a very busy day for Toby's. But restautant gave us fries to make up for it - sweet potato fries were crispy !

Perfect for morning brunch. Most of the items are english breakfast. Must try "breakfast of champions", bread, bacon, roasted tomatoes and beans. Beans with gravy is one of the best ever. Quite neighborhood, not too far from Boat Quay. Made plans for my next visit alr 🙌

Nice little place by the corner of Canal. Healthy Breakfast and good lunch options. Coffee was amazing. If you like strong coffee try Gibraltar latte. Avacado toast tastes delicious. Number of staff members were less, so had to literally hunt them to place order or pay the bill. Covid safe measures compliance could be far better.

Best coffee I ever had and they serve really awesome brunch. Ambience and staff really add on to the vibe entirely. High recommend this place !

Service was great, all staff were smiley and tried their best to find tables and attend to your needs. The food was delicious, I added maple bacon for $5 and was pleasantly surprised at the big heap given. In other cafes if I opt to add on bacon, I probably get only 2 slices. The coffee is good, strong and aromatic, however the froth milk was on the cold side, could have been hotter. I enjoyed my visit and would definitely return.

The only good thing here is coffee!! We went there yesterday and order biggest bruch menu and waffle. We're surprised to get our dishes very fast, but then understand why. All of them gone bad as waffle was served cold and sausages in big brunch dish is pretty tough as if they're recooked, left overnight and served us. This is the biggest dissappointment for us to pay the price for such below quality food when comparing to its nice setting and location.

After a long hiatus, my group of friends decided to revisit Toby's Estate as i last recalled the food they served was fantastic. However much to our disappointment, the food aren't as great as before. Portion size and quality of food has significantly dropped. I personally ordered their signature burger, and it was the hardest patty i have ever ate. However to be fair, their coffee is good. Hope you guys can improve on your food.

I tried to leave a 5 stars review for you on TripAdvisor twice but both times they said my reviews are "inauthentic" -__- We went here twice in our 3 nights stayed at Clark Quay. From our place it's pretty near to walk to, around 10 mins, and we just walked along the river, passed some park, and being the typical Singapore, it felt so fresh and relaxing. The place is crowded inside, lovely outside. Their menu wasn't too big, though, but those are presented in it are amazing. We had French Toast and Egg Benedict (Brooklyn style, with beef. There are others with salmon and ham) the taste was amazing. They serve freshly brewed coffee in wine class too! that was interesting. And their fresh juice is really fresh. i had green apple and it tasted as fresh as just taken from the farm! haha the price is pretty reasonable. you can have breakfast/brunch and look out the river, enjoy a lazy weekend.

Food is decent, service at start was okay. The male service staff was friendly. Understand that they do not have enough seats, therefore we were arranged to temporarily sit at a location where one of the seats has its dining area blocked by a wooden cover due to an opening in the table. The remaining space is more suitable for drinking coffee at most but definitely not that comfortable for dining. There was no initiative of the staff to move us to a more decent dining area when it is available but released it to those who just walked in. The female service staff have some kind of attitude when serving, as though i had owe her money. Hopefully they will improve on their service standard, but the coffee is worth a try.

I have not had such terrible service in Singapore for such a long time. Not only that our coffee did not arrive 35 min after the order, and every table around us (outdoor) received their, the server was rude and plain nonchalant. It was particularly embarrassing as I had friends from overseas with me. Coffee was not as good as before - there is no difference between a flat white and a cappuccino. Dreadful.

I like food here generally and the place has a nice relaxed vibe in the morning before my gym but service is pretty miserable. I get my own menu and order from the counter as table service takes forever even when its quiet. Tables are dirty but the waiter is sitting playing with his phone...get your act together guys. The f & b scene in Robertson is brutal and customers can go to 10 other places within 50m...

Currently at the branch in Clarke quay. Found a giant green bug in my salad. I believe a simple wash of the vegetables before serving would remove the bugs on the plants. Thus this goes to show that Toby's fail to wash their stuff before serving their customers. Their explanation to me was that it is inevitable for bugs to appear on vegetables. 1. A simple wash would rid the salad of bugs 2. The bug was the size of a 50c coin. If it was a small bug then it would be more understandable since it would be harder to wash away In conclusion, I'm utter disappointed in their food. P.S. They also leave their dirty plates outside which attract many birds. I question their cleanliness

I usually give restaurants and cafes second chances, but I feel this will be the last time I'll be having brunch at the Rodyk branch. I ordered the usual items, and nothing has changed with how each were prepared. Rainbow fries aren't equally rainbow--we were handed a dish roughly containing 70% potatoes, 25% sweet potatoes, and 5% others. I ordered an avocado salad (which the servers seemed to have forgotten to punch in), and I received a sad plate with a blotchy avocado, tomatoes which had a bit of dried up white liquid on them, and off-tasting sprouts. My sister ordered a very underwhelming 16sgd mediterranean with barely any quinoa. I'm quite disappointed with my experience earlier today--the only redeeming factor of the meal was the chipotle mayo served with the fries.

Strongest coffee flavour I've ever tasted (specifically asked the owner to show me what he's got). There's great variety of coffee from all over the world and also alternative brewing methods. Next to the river but far away from the buzz as soon as you cross the entrance. Great bandwidth internet on wifi and Bluetooth. If only the hot chocolate was equally world class...

An excellent cafe which serves great Eggs Benedicts, coffees, and other dishes. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves tremendously here, and the surprise birthday cake delighted us so much. Highly recommended for breakfast, teas, lunches!

We were surprised to see so many people up and about on a Sunday morning. Toby's is my favorite cafe for over 4 years.I would just come all the way here just for the famous coffee, riverside dining atmosphere, awesome food and superb service. The charming modern industrial space with white ceilings and natural light makes this place the perfect instagram-worthy place. Most grateful is that Michael, cafe manager always make sure i feel at home during every visit!

It was a great experience. Hip ambience in a surrounding that is not too crowded (though we waited for about 15 mins for our seats). Food was good but the variety could have been better - more than half the menu starts from 12 noon. Otherwise - what was available we enjoyed and the coffee was great. Go after 12 if you want access to the full menu!
