Review Uya Japanese Unagi Restaurant - Singapore

Nice cosy environment, you can see the chef bbq the eel from the dining area, the staff and attentive and responses quickly. Probably one of best Unagi I’ve tried in Singapore. Thou it can’t be compared to the once I’ve tried in Kyoto, this is good enough to satisfy my craving. Nicely grilled and flavoured, while the meat is tender. If there’s anything I though it could have been better would be the thickness of the Unagi, we also ordered the grill liver, I’m personally not a fan of it. The tempura oyster is amazing thou, fresh, big and juicy. Overall I would highly recommend this place if you’re a fan of Unagi or looking for a good Unagi in singapore. As for price, we paid 115++ in total for dinner so it’s a little pricey

There was a 1 hour wait when we reached at 12.05 on a Saturday but all the items we ordered were great! Sashimi was fresh and tasty with freshly grated wasabi. Fish skin was thin and very crisp unlike the thick breaded Irvin's kind typically used elsewhere. Unagi was grilled in house with slightly crisp skin and was very flavourful without being drenched in sauce. Tempura was crisp and tasty. Rice was good quality Niigata rice, sides and soup all were good. No complaints at all, would definitely come back again!

Saw a mini queue when I got there at 12pm (wed), got a table in 5 mins. Friendly and attentive staff. I like that the sauce was minimal and just enough to complement the unagi instead of drowning it. Heard the guy next to me asking for more sauce, so I guess it depends on individual preference. Enjoyed the grilled livers, great taste and texture.

It is a very nice cosy place, although the menu is somewhat limited, but the food is really nice and fresh. The serving is also big and filling. The staff are friendly and service is good. Highly recommended.

Food was 10/10. This is one of the best unagi in Singapore I've tried, coming quite close to the ones I had in Japan. Quality of everything is better than Manman, although Manman's wasabi was nicer. Wagyu beef is not bad too with well fried garlic chips. Only downside was that they are understaffed, there's not enough servers on the floor to cater to the customers.

Very nice ambience and cosy restaurant. The center piece attraction brings out the uniqueness of this place. The unagi is delicious soft, tender and fleshy. I agree with some customer that it lacks the smokey taste and is really not that sweet. But I believe Japanese food is all about balance. The sashimi was fresh and affordable. Really love the Japanese pepper. The aroma is so fragrant and it leave a slight numbness to your tongue at the end. Every mouthful I put a dash of that pepper. When I open my mouth, the fragrant went straight to my nose. After the meat, the aroma still lingers in your mouth. Very likeable after taste. Service is very efficient. Every staff are well train and patience. Would be back to try the other dishes.

Gr8910 service even during peak dinner time. Can get great view of the preparations. The unagi dishes are fresh. Grilled well. Juicy and melts on the inside weh. Ice creams were great too.

Located on level 2 of Wheelock Place and reservations are recommended. The unagi is very fresh and perfectly balanced in flavour and texture, allowing one to taste the fresh and delicious flesh without the overpowering of seasoning. I also like the unagi egg rolls and the salmon skin salad. Definitely one of the best, if not the best place for unagi lovers in Singapore!

I have never written a review until today. The staff were attentive and enthusiastic. And while celebrating my bday with my gf, many staff came over to wish us happy bday . Food wise was awesome! Strongly recommend any unagi set or chirashi don as the fish they gave were of top quality and not kidding when I say that there was more fish than rice. Green tea was refilled promptly, and there was never a time while we were there where we had an empty cup! Awesome!

Been tempted to try this place a few times. Finally had the chance to and it was indeed delicious. The unagi was flavourful. Lightly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Well worth it!

Nothing like having it in Japan. The overall experience is different from one at Japan. I guess it is not too bad at least I can have my favourite food in Singapore without travelling all the way to Japan. The eel is grilled too Crispy but still good. The rice is the let down. They use rice from Hokkaido, but it is not sticky and moist enough. Of course, I will go again and try again! Expect $40-50 per head.

Simple and easy on the eye deco. No fuss. Great Eel dishes. Non rubbery texture on the eel, did not came across any tiny remnant bones on the eel flesh. Eel was nicely grilled over charcoal and the sauce was lovely. The wagyu salad and the grilled liver were excellent too. Both the grilled eel and liver has a charred flavour and crispy on the outside. Efficient and attentive service by staff.
