Review Spring Court Restaurant - Singapore

Food was decent but agree with other reviews that there seemed to be a shortage of manpower. It took awhile before our orders were taken and food to be served. As the dining timing was only 1.5 hours, waitresses were always asking if we have finished our food as they were rushing to clear the plates though there were food still left on the plates.

The food is traditional and so very good. The Cold dish especially the ngoh hiang was really delicious! The Buddha jump over the wall soup was superb! The fried fish was well fried and crispy and yum yum! The crab noodles was full of crab meat and nice! Every dish turned out well for a very satisfying luncheon.

Quality of food is okay, with decent service. The Peking duck, sea cucumber with mushrooms, black pepper venison, roasted chicken stuffed with prawns, and the lobster noodles were good. However, staff manpower is lacking greatly. Only one staff was assigned to our table of 9 in a private room on the 4th floor. The waitress serving our table was very polite and hardworking. It is unfortunate that Spring Court was unable to provide another waiter to help out with the serving, which was quite demanding for our waitress to handle. Because of the lack of manpower, it was very inconvenient and difficult for our table to call our waitress to attend to our requests. Installing a system which allows guest to call for the waiter will greatly improve the service and overall experience. Waiting time for the food was very long. The cold platter took about 20-25 minutes to arrive, despite pre-ordering all the dishes. By the time the cold platter arrived, it was already close to 1.40pm. Lobsters were delicious, juicy and tender, but overpriced. $188++ per kg. Price has risen substantially over the past few years. Despite pre-ordering the food more than a week in advance, several dishes were wrong, such as the absence of coconut in the coconut almond paste desert ($8.80/pax++). The greatest disappointment was the cold platter, where the shark's fin egg portion of the cold platter was wrongly replaced with fried vegetarian beancurd, despite our pre-order stating that we will like to keep the shark's fin egg portion of the cold platter, even though we had separately pre-ordered a large shark's fin egg dish as well. The osmanthus jelly desert was another disappointment. Instead of serving 2-3 pieces of osmanthus jelly (per pax), a single tiny piece was served, alongside with two thin slices of watermelon. For $4.80++ per pax, it's definitely not worth it. It is quite unfortunate that our pre-ordered dishes with over a week's advance notice were miscommunicated to the kitchen by the staff manager Joseph Yo who took our pre-order dishes via phone and WhatsApp. It was disappointing that Joseph did not turn up to apologise for the miscommunication of the orders, despite notifying him beforehand that the meal is for our grandparents' birthday celebration. I do hope the restaurant's management and entire pre-ordering system can be revamped. For a meal costing $1XXX for 9 pax in a private room, with all the dishes pre-ordered more than a week in advance, we definitely expected more from Spring Court. The experience we had with the multiple errors in the pre-order dishes is certainly not something which should happen again, especially coming from an established restaurant. Our past experiences here were much more pleasant. We do hope that this is only an one-off unpleasant experience for customers. We will definitely think twice before coming back again.

An old school Chinese restaurant, from food, soup to dessert are definitely good and delicious. Kinda pricey for 2 but it's worth it for your tummy. Service good

This is one of those long-established restaurants that stood the test of time. The food is always delicious. My personal favourite is the Lamb Brisket in Claypot, so much so that I ordered for CNY reunion dinner. Glad to see that they are using the service robot to alleviate the workload of the staff.

A taste of traditional Spring Court classics. From the popiah to the deep fried "crab cake with chicken liver and salted egg yoke". Taste reminiscent of the past. Well done in keeping the traditional taste.

Superb quality Chinese food cooked in the traditional way. Service was surprisingly fast in spite of the crowd and previous reviews. We had their yam basket, roast chicken, vege with 3 eggs and stir fried mee suah.

詠春园 (Spring Court) was a traditional Chinese restaurant mixed a hint of modernistic design. Waiters and waitresses was highly knowledgeable and warm by recommeding the restaurant popular dishes to my family. Food was served promptly and for those coming for a vist, remember to order their famous "Po Piah" which is a spring roll prepared fresh from their open kitchen.

went for dinner with a total of 13 pax. order the set meal $738++ with a few additional dishes. the services was really slow.even asking the server to pour hot water into our pot(pot with no taste), it takes almost 30 mins for them to refill. the so called free roasted pig does not taste nice. overall, a not satisfied dinner. which came up to a bill of $1084.

1) Limited varieties for Dim Sum!!! 2) Very small portion served for each Dim Sum ordered. Price is very expensive for such small portion served!!! 3) The Spring Court Popiah - not very fantastic. Can get better popiah elsewhere with much cheaper price. 4) The captain who took our order was not very helpful and friendly. Asked him to recommend signature Dim Sum but he didn't. Instead asked us to look for the chef recommendation ones and he stood there waiting to take my order. He didn't even bother to 'sell' the dim sum to me. After what he had told me and the kind of 'don't care' attitude, i LOST my appetite and mood. Very disappointed with HIS (a guy) service!!! He has given me a very BAD first impression. 5) Yesterday (18/12 - Sun) was my first visit to Spring Court but will not dine at Spring Court again. 6) Dim Sum - not fantastic at all. Can get better Dim Sum elsewhere. 7) We ordered a few Dim Sum and it cost us almost $80. 8) Can I know how does the restaurant charge for tea/towel/pickle? There is no breakdown of tea, towel and pickle as what other restaurants do. Please enlighten me! 9)I have always been looking forward to visiting Spring Court but... Not anymore... really disappointed!!!!!

I was not impressed. We chose this place for a birthday celebration but the service & food quality was below par for a signature restaurant. There was a Peking duck offer which instead of delighting customers, made us feel like we were flying on a Budget airline since they charged extra for everything including $5 for 6 pieces of lettuce. Our bill easily came up to 3 times the min spend they required for the offer so there was no reason to make us feel that way. Not a place I would recommend.

I was a regular customer often hosting family dinners there. My family enjoyed the Peking Duck, live fish and sharks fin. My recent visit on Tue 4 Oct was such a disappointment! The duck skin was not crispy although I specified that it must be so when I placed the order. The tastiness of the duck was a far cry from what it used to be and the meat tasted dry. The duck noodle which now incurred extra charges of $12 has also deteriorated in taste and quality. I checked with one of the waiters only to be told that the chef has changed. Such a pity!! My family especially used to love dining there so much. But too bad never again.

we had just recently hosted our wedding dinner here... the food and service is good... we actually started to liaise with Eric about a year ago... he is really friendly, responsive and prompt in replying to our inquiries.. Spring Court is also very accommodating to our requests... also must thanks Joseph and his team who were in charge of the dinner on that day...

Long fabulous restaurant of 50 years old! Poh Piah is their signature dish. Black pepper crab too is awesome delicious! Wen u host a birthday dinner, their staffs Will sings a Birthday Song to the birthday guest. Karaoke facilities provided for those whom book a room for their private function. Enjoyable memorable dinner for honourable guests! They hv valet service for those whom drives.

Always great to try this restaurant's seafood, dim sum, popiah and its signature chicken with ham and crab meat noodles. It's cold crab is amazing ballz too!

My family and I went to Spring Court to celebrate our father's birthday. We ordered from the afternoon dim sum menu. Food and service was very good. We were highly entertained by the special performance put up by Joseph. It's the thoughtful gestures that propel a dining experience to greatness. Thanks for the extra mile, Joseph & Keep it up.

Frankly speaking, food was not cheap but we still wanted to try your popular Peking duck. However, your staff had forgotten to pass the rest of the duck to us after we had paid the bill and left for home. When we contacted your restaurant, your staff had expected us to go back to collect instead of kindly making a trip to our home to deliver to us. You seriously need to improve your customer service.

Food quality and taste is not great. Hosted a dinner there but food is really disappointing and embarrassing. There are better Chinese restaurants out there.

We hosted our Malaysia relatives over dinner on 15Sep16 at an exclusive floor with excellent karaoke system. Everyone enjoyed the food and the excellent service by Joseph and his staff Gao. Joseph even surprised us with a light-hearted performance during the opening dish and birthday celebration which made the dining experience unique and unforgettable. A big thank you to Joseph, Gao and Spring Court for making us a proud host and everyone a memorable night. Cheers

This restaurant should be awarded the gold award in terms of the hospitality and warmth of its staff, which stands out among the rest. Mr David Ng, Spring Court’s maître d' turns the silver rated experience into a gold one with his signature “NO!............Problem” responses. Extraordinary warmth, friendliness and knowledge of the diverse dishes offered truly turned this dining experience into an unforgettable one.

Hosted my mother’s 60th birthday celebration at Spring Court function room and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Commendable service by Joseph and his team, we appreciate the attention to details. Really enjoyed the dance item and atmosphere by them as well! Food was really delicious, many of my guests were full of praises for it. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend my friends and family to hold their events here!
