Review Cafe Iguana - Singapore

Our most go to restaurant for Mexican cuisine. Their vegetarian nachos, fajitas are excellent. Ginger ale, blueberry concord for drinks- good choices too. Desserts can have more variety. Overall a satisfying restaurant for Mexican! Good going!

A scene of liveliness & rejuvenation, this place is a breath of fresh air after a tiresome work week. Just in time for happy hour, I ordered their Frozen Lime Margarita, a classic that was perfect parts strong as it was refreshing & flavourful. While Lime is the classic flavour, their Peach Margarita offered a sweetness that's perfect after a sour-bitter Lime punch. Along with the drinks I ordered the free-flow chips & dips (they only top up the chips) & it paired quite well with the drinks! Overall the ambience was great but the drinks - they're really worth coming here for 🙌

Delicious authentic Mexican food, with a good verity of options and flavours for both vegetarians and meat lovers. The staff was nice and environment was good. If going in a group would recommend the free flow nachos (the variety of sauces were really good). Overall great experience, will surely return!

We got the tastiest Mexican good in Singapore without doubt. Very soft tacos. Liked their nachos and sides, quesadilla is nice. Make your own taco was the highlight. Drinks were the disappointment. They didn’t complement the food at all.

The food here is nice. Ordered steak and fish wrap. Drink ordered 1 mango and 1 lime margaritas. The taste was good. Steak was juicy. Fish was a little over cooked but taste good. Decor suits the Mexican theme. Drink taste ok but not enough alcohol compared to other Mexican restaurants. The waiters were friendly and professional.

The food is very good. But I would say in general this place is quite pricey. I probably won't be returning on my own but my girlfriend wants to come back. So we will probably compromise and come back a few more times. The make your own tacos are pretty good but they have too few flour tortillas for the amount of meat and toppings and charge extra for more. The drinks are also not very strong.

We’ve been coming here for over ten years. Yeah, I miss the larger menu they used to have but it’s gotten a little bigger again and had undergone a recent revamp. The menu is, irritatingly, accessed via QR code but not formatted for mobile, so it’s hard to read. Portion sizes have come down a bit but so have prices and I don’t really need to eat giant meals, so I’m happy with that. We’ve always found the food fairly tasty and the drinks decent, albeit quite pricey. The staff are friendly, though sometimes a little slow and the kitchen needs to work on timing the dishes better. Can’t have one person’s main coming out before the starters are even served and then have everyone else’s food show up 15 or 20 minutes later. If one dish is quicker, start it later. They also aren’t giving out a free round of chips anymore. That aside, it’s really not a bad place and the location is nice. We will keep going back but half the time I just stick to ice water and don’t order any drinks. If they charged less for the drinks, they’d make more money.

we got the 50% eatigo offer which made the food quite affordable. wasn’t a huge fan of the tacos! felt a bit bland - but nachos were nice :) great ambience and decoration too

The food was delicious, and the setting is perfect, by the river. I was also really touched by our waiter's concern and service. We were in a rush, as we wanted to do the river cruise, so Hashrol, our waiter, suggested to us the items that would be ready quickly. In addition, we'd forgotten the local phone back at hotel, so he lent us his own to make a quick call, informing the rest of our party where we would be. His attentiveness through the dinner and billing, to ensure we're not delayed was a welcome change from the norm. Thank you!

Very unpleasant experience.... waiter who forgot our order twice !!! Forgot about our drinks all together - and served them few mins after had arrived since we reminded him again ... also one of us ordered Savignon Blanc and he brought some red wine instead . Absolutely awful service and food had no Mexican character neither .

Came here tonight with a group of 15 people, service was terrible and they forgot my main completely. The food looked good but unfortunately due to the incompetence of the wait staff I never got a chance to try it. Definitely will never be visiting or recommending this place to anyone. Should have gone to Brewerkz next door.

The food was good but not much cheese on the nachos. The best was Beef Chimichanga. Friendly staff and great ambience.

The guava margarita is delicious!!! We ended up ordering a pitcher because it tastes so fresh and not too sweet. I tried the bean dip (although not really a dip, but found it to be even more delicious) and the meat in salsa and it is SO good!!! The portions are VERY generous, we ordered two starters for two people and had more than enough. Their flour tortillas taste freahly made too, just as good as the ones back home :) The service is awesome and our server was super friendly. This restaurant is a Mexican gem in Singapore!

Rude staff and bad service , the staff needs some training in showing patience when taking the order

The food was delicious we had the chicken fajihtas and my partner had the red snapper tacos which were amazing. Price was reasonable as well. Great service 👍

I have been coming to this place for years, not sure if they are falling on hard times or just had a bad day, but for the first time, I left feeling hungry and disappointed as the portion size was less than half of the usual. do try, give the place a go; the drinks are great; but for me, ill be waiting a long while before I try the food again.

In my recent visits to Cafe Iguana, I have noted the following (1) Instead of providing proper sour cream, some of your Mexican dishes are served with some sweet-tasting nonsense called "lime cream" --which I have not encountered in 30 years of going to some very good Mexican restaurants (2) the guacamole served is very rough and completely lacking in spices like coriander, chilli and cummin seed. It still had real avocado, which is an improvement over some of your despicable local competitors --which use mayonaisse, green dye and sugar! I like your restaurant --but I don't want to say that Iike your restaurant merely because there are so few good Mexican food places in Singapore. Whether the motivation was cost cutting or marketing, please, please start serving real sour cream and making guacamole with real ingredients. Please, please don't ever serve me sugared up cream or a guacamole made of anything except real avocado with proper spices! If your staff does not know how to prepare them, they can come to my kitchen, and I can show them how it is done from scratch.

In the mood for some Mexican food, we were taken to Cafe Iguana by a work colleague. With a slight drizzle coming down, the colorful Cafe seemed to come to life with a buzzing crowd.

The Nachos we ordered are different in a way that they seem to be like two in one, lovely dips, the soft tacos were good as well as the salad bowl.

The house drink's pitcher received a thumbs up from my colleagues as well.

Recommended.

Went on an evening dinner today 18 Jul 2019. It was a great experience which was made even more memorable by this lovely lady Jessy who looked after our table exceptionally well. It was unbelievable to know this 32 yrs ( Look Wise ) lady was actually 42 years old and her 23 yrs old son was also working in the same cafe. Worth visiting.
Food quality - Good.
Price - Little Expensive.
Advice they should get back to Happy Hour for drinks as well which is presently restricted to Margarita only.
Decided to visit this Mexican food joint at the Clarke quay riverside street, which is filled with restaurants and pubs. This one was pretty crowded on a friday evening. Tried their draft beer-steam beer with some nachos and Fuego wings (very tender and right amount of sauce). In the main course, we tried their Tequila grill chicken with Mexican rice. All the items were well prepared and balanced in taste. Service was ok and the ambiance is pleasant, overlooking Singapore river. overall a good experience.

The ambience, the view, the music - instantly made a good first impression.
The drinks and the food were out of this world. I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order here. the jalapeno poppers and the quesadillas are a must! They have a good variety for vegetarians as well surprisingly!

A must go place for the food lovers at Clarke Quay. The Mexican food is awesome. A good place for vegetarians too.

Somewhat close match between Mexican and Indian food in terms of spices and food items makes this a good place for Indian vegetarians craving for spicy things with a low smell of seafood in vicinity.

Dinner date @cafe iguana having a full dimension view of the beautifully lit Clarke Quay, soft sound of the water and boats passing by carrying tourists, can't get more romantic.

They have vegetarian options. The food was good.

The best date I have ever had till date.

A pretty crowded place with a great ambience by the river. The outdoor seating is pleasant in the evening. Food is average, though. In my opinion the nachos were quite bland and the chimichanga needed a lot more filling. The house selection of hot sauces compensates a bit for the blandness of the food, though. I imagine the spices have been toned down with a Western audience in mind. Portion sizes are excellent.

The Ancho Chile Chocolate Cake was very interesting. It had a lovely chocolatey and spiced flavour, with a crumbly texture. Worth a try!

Not the best food, but I suppose it's a fun place to go with a group of friends :)

Being by the river with a big drinks menu certainly helps Iguana. The food's good for Asian tex-mex (SeĂąor Taco over the bridge gets much closer to real rich Mexican flavours but doesn't have as good a position). The burrito's beef was pretty bland but other ingredients compensated plus the green pork stew that I got slathered over the top was seriously rich and spicy and would be my pick on its own next time. Meals are large which, along with free chips and salsa, makes up for high prices.

Lovely Food. Big Portions. Though us being vegetarians, everything we ate was beans, rice, salsa, cream and veggies in different forms. Not a fault of the restaurant but ha !!

After the memorable Coldplay concert, we immediately looked for a dining place. Since we were staying in Clarke Quay area, we decided to check the riverside restaurants.

Cafe Iguana captured our attention as it was jam packed and seemed like a good place to eat. Despite of this, the waitress was able to give us a table.

Their food was undeniably delicious! I loved their quesadilla and burrito! Everything was served hot and fresh!
Their nacho chips were made crispy, homemade style, and not oily.
Their margarita was a little bit strong, but still good.

We wanted to order more food but the staff said the kitchen was already closed. To compensate, she gave us free round of nacho chips. Thank you!

Lovely margaritas... lovely food... portions are quite large in my view, due to which i couldn't get past the appetisers. However, lovely lovely food -- tried the jalapeĂąo poppers and the prawns... worth a visit
