A stunning building. Well worth a visit even if you’re not interested in art. The building itself is awe inspiring. The meld of old and new is sheer genius. There’s enough variety of art to have something for everyone. We didn’t visit the children’s today but there seems to be a lot to do.
We visited with a small baby in a pram. It was easy to get around except for gallery 5 where you’ll need the security guard to man the lift.
My daughter was breast feeding and the facilities are disappointing - uncomfortable and not big enough to take the push chair in. Overall a great day.
The National Gallery is the perfect place for peace and self reflection. Aside from the wonderful exhibitions, the architecture and layout of the building itself is an art.
The main courtyard has a staircase where visitors can sit and admire the design of the gallery. This landmark is very well thought out and constructed with unique interior elements, showcasing minute details which enriches the whole viewing experience.
The service staff are very friendly and easily approachable, not to mention free entry for Singaporeans and Permanent Residence! Highly recommend a trip down to check out the building.
Free for all Singaporean but need to be book before entering certain area. A kiosk self tickets near the entrance and make sure remove sticker from the ticket and paste on your shirt to indicate that you are Singaporean and book for the day.
Make sure bring your personal camera as most area are good to take photos. If not wrong, there are 4 level to visit and the roof, so be prepared for a long walk. Mostly art, history and architect.
There are 2 cafe on ground level and a bar, 2 restaurants at the roof.
Well built, preserved and maintained building. The outdoor view of the building is remarkable but the interior was even more breathtaking, the stairs, indoor pedestrian bridge/pathway are notable mentions for taking really good pictures for visitors. The artworks are wonderful and thrilling at the same time. The Entry ticket for Student(s) is SGD15. For a first time visit experience, I already knew I should visit the National Gallery again anytime I visit Singapore.
Recently the special exhibitions they've held have been stellar, beautiful and with an element of surprise and wonder both in terms of the pieces displayed and the curating. Also, remember, if you're Singaporean or permanent resident you get in free which is now extremely attractive with the excellent exhibitions they are putting up.
First time visiting National Gallery Singapore but definitely not my last. The first peoples art of Australia exhibits were really interesting and thought provoking. Also enjoyed the art work from various south Asian artists displayed in the museum. Beautiful spaces and well thought out design of space.
Went to GalleryKids with family. The kids had a lot of fun exploring and doing the various activities. We also obtained the tickets (free for locals and PRs) and went up to the Padang Deck. Excellent view and great for photos. Will want to come again in future. Good place for families with young children. Strongly recommended!
Very impressive.
We just walked through Esther quickly since admission was free. But it's a huge place. You can easily spend a few days enjoying the beautiful exhibition.
