MTR is a proper south indian restaurant in Singapore serving authentic dishes. We missed out on their puliogare rice and rava dosa, but the dishes which were truly satisfying.
Pudi masala dosa was the best of all. Set dosa was served along with chutney and raagu. Paired along it was our filter coffee.
It’s a nice place if you are craving for indian food. The taste is totally indian.. Clean & neat. Would give you a feel like you are in Saravana bavan or Murugan idly shop in Chennai.
The finest south indian vegetarian restaurant in Singapore. Very close to Perumal Temple and Joyalukkas gold shop. Mini meals and Rava Idly is a must try. They serve great filter coffee and Gulab Jamum.
Never disappoints. Amazing South Indian food. Clean and hygienic. Staff is friendly. Love the thick yet crisp dosas which is their USP. Menu changes as per the day of the week but most options are lovely. Must try their aloo bonda, filter coffee, masala dosa and vadas.
MTR will never disappoint u in any country! Just love all the items here. Excellent management during crowds, cleanliness , behaviour of the staff is by far superb! You wanna visit again and again here. Pure taste of Karnataka ❤️
This vegetarian restaurant was recommended by a friend of ours and it was so good!! The flavors were delightful and we had fun choosing from the different dosas (pancakes) available! The place was very clean and the staff very friendly :) we will
Definitely visit this place again!
Amazing authenticity of food and ambience. The service is too good. I have been to this place many times and their hospitality is outstanding. Pudi idly- is a must try.
One of the best restaurants for south Indian food. The cherry on the cake is the uncle at the reception. Extremely polite, humble and hospitality is next level.
If you want scrumptious food in Singapore, this is the place to be!
Tried - masala dosa, masala tea, rava idly and button idly. Everything is extremely delicious, hygienic and servers are humble.
A place to come back for sure!
Went for a family
Lunch. Tried pudi dosa, masala and plain dosa. excellent! Pudi Dosa was new as haven’t seen it elsewhere. Very tasty. The place was very hygienic too.
We had a lunch at MTR Singapore, we never forget this experience, as we struggle to get Indian food in Singapore, finally we made it after visiting this restaurant
One of the best South Indian food in Singapore. MTR is a restaurant chain in India and MTR Singapore serves same dishes with same taste. I have been here multiple times and loved all the dishes I have tried till now.
Well worth its high rating on TA, in our 5 day visit SG despite not being vegetarian we are there twice, the boss modified our selections to make sure that our meal was more balanced, you dont go there for an evening its 30 minutes in and out, quality tasty food, always a queue so expect 5-10 minute wait, there is no alcohol but the mango juice or lemon and honey are great drinks. Meal for 2 around 35-40 S$
And staff are friendly, obviously it's not a Michelin meal or service, but overall it has to collect 5 star on TA where taking the cost and friendliness of the staff
As we wandered around little India we passed MTR at lunch. Having enjoyed the food for years at lalbaug we walked in.
It's a small place but every seat was packed with a line of people waiting to be seated....some traditions do not change.
We waited patiently, you have to pay first and be seated. We ordered raha idli + puri dossa + water + Filter coffee. Sgd 24.
YUMMY. Delicious. Lip smacking. The rava idli was 'same standard re '. With the ghee and sambar and pudi dosa was transported to foodopia. Coffee was the same strong aroma and taste. Was transported back to lalbaug.
Simply superb. Highly reccomend and must visit.....
Their standout dish is the Dosa, thicker than usually found with a strong caramelised base that imparts a distinct flavour to the dish. It’s a must try! There’s many other excellent options on the menu and I’d also recommend the Rava Idli, Bisibele Bhath and the amazingly flavourful Mango Lassi. With fresh ingredients, no MSG, and cooked to order food you can’t go wrong. Don’t be put off if you get there and find a large queue stretching outside onto the five foot way....it’s normal and recognition of how good the place is. Also for those unhappy with the common Singapore “chope” method of table reservation before getting food, you’ll be pleased to see MTR takes orders before you sit down, assigns you a number, and then tells you when and where to sit.
Exceptionally delicious food!! The only thing is you need to wait a little for your order as its always full. One of the rare authentic South Indian place.
An absolute favorite!! Definitely lives up to the MTR standards, and I must say it does exceed expectations! I personally prefer this over the establishments in Bengaluru, India! The food is always delicious, the staff are quick, efficient and friendly! But mind you, you might have to queue up as MTR definitely has a great repertoire in SG! Hats off! My favorite and go to place for South Indian food in SG!
Nice place
Nice people
Nice ambience
Food is very tasty and authentic
Ordered onion rawa masala dosa, masala dosa and pudi masala dosa...
Amazing innovation in a south indian platter..must say..a mix of gun powder and lots of ghee gave a complete different flavour to dosa recipe..along with serving and masala in dosa...sambhar very less in quantity but good..chutneys also served in less quantity...may be the strategy is to save wastage of food..otherwise pudi masala dosa concept is really appreciable and different! Kudos!!! Must visit if you are in singapore! And trying to food good south indian food other than sarvana!!
For my South Indian palate, MTR is bae, whichever branch it is! After two days of exploring local food at SG, couldn't be happier when I could locate an MTR there. Had their ghee filled masala dosa to function normally 😁
Excellent dosas, great coffee and I love the fact that they discourage wastage. I think MTR is by far the best South Indian restaurant in Singapore. It has set a high bar for restaurants like Komala Vilas and Anand Bhavan — they don’t even come close...
Been here during a vacation in Singapore. The taste is absolutely amazing, it tastes exactly the same as you would have it in Bangalore. The quality of the food is very consistent. The staff and the owner is very friendly and warm. It is crowded most of the time but that does not slow down their service. Can eat here all the time and it is a must visit restaurant for anyone who love South Indian food, would like to try South Indian food. Overall, it feels like you are in India.
One of the few places in Singapore you have authentic South Indian dishes.. Been here thrice n tried different items everyime, never got disappointed.. Service needs to improve though, quite understandable with the kinda rush they have all the time..
Home away from home for Indian travellers..
Great taste with superb quality & very good service.I had breakfast 2 times at this place.Overall a very nice place to eat south indian food.
for a South Indian from Karnataka who is especially looking for Karnataka style dose, it is nearly impossible until I found MTR. dose's here are the typical Karnataka style roasted and crispy on the top as well as soft and fluffy on the inside.
so I went to MTR about four five times during my 10 days of stay in Singapore
each each time I went there as a hungry and desperate tourist in need of home food and came out as a satisfied and happy South Indian with the satisfaction of Home Style food.
1. Poori Sagu
I first tried the poori Sagu which was extremely soft and the Sagu was prepared to perfection with the right amount of aloo and spices.
2. South Indian Breakfast Thali
my grandpa tried the South Indian breakfast thali that consisted of Bisi Bele Bath, pulao, curd rice and Kesari bath it. also had cups of raita and Sagu for additional taste.
3. Kharabath
I then ordered Khara bath also known as Uppitu and it was prepared with a different masala used during the preparation of brinjal rice and this is the spicy and Tangy version of the regular Uppitu.
4. Masale Dose.
let me just say that it was crafted to perfection and any South Indians dream dose.
5. Puliyogare
puliyogare are also known as the tamarind rice was was tasty but the taste of tamarind was negligible still a good saviour in Singapore
6. Button Idli Sambar
button Idli with sambar is the perfect breakfast for a kid or for the kid inside any adult. the Samba is equally tasty and a perfect mixture of the right spices.
7. Bisi Bele Bath
the famous bisi bele bath is served with the iconic small cup of ghee and i am sure it is prepared with love because it's Bisi Bele Bath.
8. open Dose
the open dosa is extremely fluffy with the right amount of chutney Pudi sprinkled all over it and a dollop of Allu Palya and a dollop of butter.
simply an authentic south India palate experience that you cannot go wrong with !! we started with a friendly hello at the entrance and the experience lasted throughout . we started with idly vada , moved to dosa - masala , rava and wheat , sampled Kesari bath and finished with a lovely traditional south indian coffee !
worth a visit when in Singapore , great service very clean and neat ambience
Truly authentic South Indian dishes miles away from Home!! Taste, hygiene, service and attentive senior keeping interest of consumer (eater!!) on top is the short description. Lot of options and daily different menu is another unique matter which makes this restaurant a class apart. Wish similar options are available in Mumbai!!!
This restaurant has plenty to offer for people looking for wegetarian food. Masala Dosa is recommended specially for those who don’t like spicy food. And it is delicious. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Jatin Israni Ki Foodie Duniya ✔️
+4
I am a big south Indian food fan. I love having dosas in my dinner. I have been to some local south Indian restaurants also but MTR is the best when you are craving for dosas, vada and sambhar.
Nothing better than MTR really! Especially when in a foreign location.
Being Singapore, everything was overpriced, but taste is as good as it is at any MTR place. Same green chutney, same sambar. Don’t ask for extra though - each of them is $2 😵
The elderly ladies who help clean the place are a pleasure to speak to. Do say hi.
I am not a big time foodie but still I want to share about MTR. Your food,Ambeince and hospitality all are fabulous.. Must visit for those who are fond of South Indian food👍👍
When we visited Singapore, my mom craved for south Indian food. We visited this place and it became our dinner destination till we stayed in Singapore. Taste was very authentic. Maybe a little pricier than other smaller Veg south Indian outlets in the locality but it is hygiene and tastes really good. Would recommend it.
MTR franchise is located near ferrer Park Singapore... Always crowded but they didn't compromise for classic taste of MTR!
Ordered masala dosa, mangalore buns, bisibele bath... All tastes good
But it's quite crowded all the time. Hv to wait for so long to get the seats...
Usually visit this place mostly before or after shopping done at Mustafa. Bisebyale bhat, masala idli and Upma are my favourite all time. U cab also try out variety of dosa.
Must try dessert is Chandrakala !
After walking down the streets of Little India for about 30 mins, finally I found this famous and most popular hub for the best South Indian food in Singapore and all my walking was fruitful. The restaurant is worth a visit if u are in singapore and when u are craving to get the taste of South India. They serve the most fresh food and the entire working team is very cordial. Had a Vada and Dosa which were tasty. The way they have carried on the business since its initial days is really inspiring.
Good food and great filter coffee... Definitely a saviour for all the south Indian out here....! The service is fast and extremely organized. the variety of Rosa's is extraordinary...we particularly enjoyed the podi dosa and button idli!
Pretty small and cramped but exactly the MTR that's it supposed to be, same dishes and same taste. Pretty small and expensive but serves the authentic MTR delicacies.
I visited this place after searching so much for good place to have a Indian food in singapore.
it was well located in the place called LITTLE INDIA in singapore.
ordered idli, dosa and pongal- Taste was soo good. small place but well maintained, hygiene and Good ambiance.
Though it was a quick meal but managed to try a couple of dishes and loved the authentic taste of Idli, dosa and sambhar. I will go back to try out other dishes. Not to forget coffee was nice too.
Great South Indian restaurant up to my taste buds in Singapore ,just gives authentic Bangalore food in Singapore highly recommended and easy reach 👍
The food is awesome, truly authentic I must say.. The taste is more close to the Southern side of India (Karnataka) .
However the Ambience is poor.
Recommendations: Masala Dosa, Rava Idli, Pudi Dosa
Food : 4
Ambience : 3
Service : 3.5
